Game of Thrones (spoiler-free zone)
A few have suggested it, might as well test the waters. The idea is to give people who haven't read the books a safe place to talk about the show.
A few quick ground rules:

Tubeplus.me and ch131 are both usually solid.

First time in a long time where I sort of had a "Meh" reaction after an episode.

Yeah, this was almost the definition of a filler episode. Everyone gets one scene, and most of the time it's just two people talking.
The big thing I was looking forward to was the Crows attacking Craster's Keep, which was well done but without much suspense, as it was already painfully obvious that those turncoats were all going to die, and horribly. I'm now officially sick of Bran and his whole storyline. He's boring and a whiner, the sister does not seem like the dangerous fighter that the show insist she is, the brother is too esoteric and weird and I don't get the whole thing with the three-eyed raven and whatever mystic journey they're on, and Hodor is Hodor. That said, Hodor's moment to shine was probably the best in the episode. That dude was skilled and dangerous and Hodor took him down like he was preparing a chicken for dinner. Crack! |

Also when it's revealed he poisoned john aryn which is what set everything in motion. I personally liked the episode. I understand that it didn't have huge coolness, but it had some good plot development.

Had it already been revealed that LF had John Aryn murdered? This revelation isn't getting the play I thought it would from non book readers. I remember that being the moment when I was like "holy shit, LF is the mastermind of everything!"
The entire series of events in Westeros were set in motion by the poisoning of the Hand of thr King. That's the entire reason that Catelyn hates and mistrusts the Lannisters (the letter from her sister). It's the reason the Starks came south. It's the reason for the entire instability of the realm, and Baelish orchestrated it all.

I did catch that but, since it's already been established that he likes to convince women to drop poison pellets in the drinks of people he thinks should be dead, it didn't come as a great galloping shock.

It was interesting that Cercei seemed to fall in line with her father. I couldn't tell if it was the perspective provided by her son's death or navigating for the favor of a judge in Tyrion's trail. She must understand now that the Lannister's are never safe or untouchable.
Arya also continues to have the Stark knocked out of her. The honorable ways of the Starks have sent their family into ruin. She continues to hold onto some of those values, but the Hound continues to give her lessons on how the world really works. |
