They had a lot more ammunition to move around. KC was handcuffed from the start by giving 2 2nds for Smith. Not that I'm bashing Smith. I think he was totally worth the price we paid for him.

It wouldn't have taken much to trade with the Eagles and grab Manziel. Tweets were coming out that Reid mentioned he liked him as he was inching ever so closer. It was pretty obvious that the Eagles weren't going to grab him after Foles' rookie season and that the Chiefs were the next potential suitor for a QB, but they sat with idle hands as another team made a move to grab their franchise QB.

As much as I want KC to draft a 1rst round QB I don't think this was the time to do it. Alex Smith is in his prime and will be OK for 4-5 more years. We still don't know what we have in Bray.

The more I think about it, the more I like the Ford pick. If he can stay healthy. I know it's a big 'if'.

Alex Smith is on contract for 1 more year. Signing him to a big money deal doesn't help this team.

Yes we do... A QB that will never see the field in a meaningful game.

Alex Smith is on a 1-year deal. If he gets paid $20M per, this team is DEAD.

There will never be a BETTER time to draft a QB.

That being said, Ford was a fine pick. They didn't take a QB. Now it's up to them to get Smith signed and to a contract that actually allows the team to continue to improve.

You're right. I am assuming they get Smith signed. If not, oh boy.

Bray is the poster boy for 'million dollar arm, ten cent head'. I still hold out hope he could amount to something. It could be worse, I guess. Alex Tanney and Brodie Croyle could still be on the roster.....

He was already a project before his knee broke. He missed a year for being a douche or something and he put up decent numbers in a weak conference.

I think, at best, he's a mirror of Fasano. Not spectacular in blocking or receiving.

No, but history and statistics give us a CLEAR view of probability.

That's exactly what happened. Browns went out and got their guy instead of hoping fate landed him in their laps. He might bust in the NFL, but you know who will eventually find a franchise QB first? The Browns.
