Not true. Smith played very well for the 5 games you're talking about. He played well in many others. For example go back and look at the Philly game. In particular that huge 3rd down throw he made in the 4th from his own end zone to Avery. It was big time. I bet you didn't count that game in your assessment of good ones. Point is in the games you're not giving him credit for, he made the plays to win. Taking into consideration that the Chiefs had a different philosophy before the bye week, he played well in most games.

You don't have to give him credit. Your opinion means jack shit (as does mine). You're right, the defense was exceptional early on and was the main reason for most of the victories, BUT Smith played within the confines of the offense and game plan at the time. When it was time for him to make plays - he did - like in the Philly game. (Dallas game as well) For that I absolutely do give him credit for being a good QB for more than just the 5 games you gave him credit for being. We have far different opinions on the matter. So think what you want and I'll do the same.

It's amazing how Dorsey AND Reid - who's had a stiffy for Alex for a while, are less qualified in making a decision on trading for Smith than the some resident CP Kiper wannabes. Those who are not a Smith fan can't hide from the fact that he stepped up and performed well in the Playoff game. Now the bitching and moaning has moved on to speculation at best about how the club will overpay and kill our salary cap- even though the front office hasn't been rash to quickly get him extended. So, all the vitriol is just hypothetical butthurt. They've also brought in a new QB in the 2 years they've been here, so it's not like Pioli , who refused to bring in any competition to push Cassel. You can not like Bray or Murray, but it isn't like they are not looking forward with respect to the QB position and right now it looks more and more like they may wait and see how Alex does next year before sinking starting money into keeping him past next season. Which I have little doubt will result in people around here criticizing Dorsey for being stupid for not signing Smith earlier at a better bargain if he does play well next year. Basically, it's a catch 22, and some are going to find a way to bitch about something no matter what the situation.
