Report: Raiders tab Derek Carr as starting quarterback

The Raiders are going with a rookie at quarterback to begin the regular season.

Fox’s Jay Glazer reports the Raiders have switched starters in advance of Sunday’s opener at the Jets, with Derek Carr getting the nod over Matt Schaub.

According to Glazer, players have been informed of the decision.

The call to go with Carr comes after the second-round pick from Fresno State completed 11-of-13 passes for 143 yards and three TDs in the preseason finale vs. Seattle. Schaub sat out the game with elbow soreness.

Schaub, whom the Raiders acquired from Houston in the offseason, was just 24-of-47 passing for 218 yards with no touchdowns and one interception in exhibition play. He was sacked three times.

like I said in my first post, no other franchise in the NFL destroys QBs faster than the chokeland faiders. Carr will have to play for another team if he wants to salvage his--already--train-wrecked NFL career.

lol The Chiefs dont make it, because they dont ever try. At least Oakland tries, they might not work out, but ****, they try. Like i said before. as bad as oakland has been the last 12 years or so, they still have more play off wins then us since 2002 then we have had since 1970 and they have lost double digit games 10 years in a row.

Carson Palmer says hello. As for Carr, there's still 8 more games to be played this year before his rookie season is over and the final stats are tallied. Then he'll have another off season with an incompetent front office (and possibly a new coaching staff) for him to really scratch his head and wonder WTF is happening to his career. Then next season will start and he will be in complete failure mode as all the other NFL teams have game tape on him (not to mention he will probably have another HC and system to learn).

Lol Palmer played the same with Oakland as he did in Cincinnati and as he is with the Cardinals. The only difference is the talent around him. You are too much of a homer to waste too much serious conversation on. When it is all said and done Oakland will be drafting 1st and Manning will be nursing a stretched asshole from another choke job and neither team will have anything to show for the effort~
