So did I when I was a kid in the 60s.

Your grandmother probably did have an ice box.

I was at a farmers market down here in Louisiana a couple of years ago. I bought some produce from a farmer that had to be in his 80's. As a gesture, he offered me up some free blood oranges. As I was walking away, he said, "Make sure you put them in the ice box for a few hours. That's the best way to eat them."

I was confused as hell. I couldn't understand why the dude wanted me to put my oranges in the freezer. What would be pleasurable about eating a frozen orange.

I found out later from my grandma that ice box is what the old folks call a fridge.

I apologize for saying Alex Smith is better than Peyton, it was when you called me an effing moron, & it hurt! It HURT! so I'm glad that you wrote me today. Thank you. ...It means a lot - you really hurt my feelings three weeks ago - it was a blow I felt and it was because you'd administered the shot. I'm glad we're close again!

My grandma called it an ice box, and my dad still calls it an ice box. When I'm around him I call it an ice box because I think it is funny.

He also calls the washing machine "the warsher."
