I don't see DJ as holdup for keeping Hudson. What are you gonna save/gain to cut DJ and his $5.25M, draft/sign someone else at what number and what production?

Every penny of the Chiefs current cap space is going to go to Houston. They are going to need to cut more players, and some higher paid players at that.

Hali and DJ top that list of higher paid players. Bowe would be option #3 for me. People saying that you can easily replace his production are trying to compare his production with Alex Smith to that of Randall Cobb with Aaron Rodgers. It's dumb. Bowe was what? 200% more productive than any other receiver on the team? They've already cut 2 of their shit corp. They can't afford to cut Bowe without some kind of guarantee of a FA coming to the Chiefs.

You can cut Hali because you already made the choice to replace him last draft. You can cut DJ because you just played a whole ****ing season without him and did fairly well.

Not true. Signing bonus can lower base salary. Houston will get a chunk, but a big bonus gives him what he wants and keeps us relatively cap friendly.

Again, a huge signing bonus keeps the cap number down.

So are you going to give him a $40M check or something?

What really keeps the cap number down is back-loading the hell out of a deal. A huge signing bonus screws you for future restructure and cap flexibility.

At the end of the day the Chiefs are probably going to have to tag Houston which will put them like $5M over the cap and need to clear that space in 8 days. Cutting ****s like Fasano and saving a couple million isn't going to cut it.

That's why you make sure you want that player long term. Yes, your way will work, as well, but to keep the vase salary down long term, the big bonus works best. Your way, makes said player's cap number INCREASE, making it more difficult to retain other players.

Personally I'm not expecting randall cobb or jeremy maclin, nor do we need that to get bowe's production. 200% more than a pile of shit is just a pile of shit twice as big, eh?

You can sign a WR2 FA, draft a #1 and start grooming, and still sign a 2nd TE to pair with Kelce and this offense would be significantly better than LY imo. Eddie Royal, Cecil Shorts, hell Nate Washington or Brian Hartline!

Cutting Bowe w/ June1 designation saves nearly 2x cutting DJ, and I'll throw out there DJ makes 2x the contribution that Bowe did.

Our fun D was putrid LY, getting DJ at 80% speed would do amazing things to make the D even better. Keeping Bowe holds us back.
