It's time for me to bow out. It's been almost 10 years, and I'm tired.

Tired of the false narratives. Tired of people arguing the poster instead of the post. Tired of discussing football with people who favor excuses over evidence. Tired of wasting time talking about an organization that hasn't won a playoff game in the lifetime of a college senior. Tired of watching other great posters leaving entirely or posting less, weakening the Football IQ this place was known for 5-10 years ago.

I know posting a thread instead of just walking away will open the door for many to take their cheap shots - we all know who they are - and if you don't, just wait. They'll show themselves. Those of you that know me privately know this has been building for a long time.

With all that said, I'll say what I've always said: This team has talent, but will continually fall short as long as they keep thinking you can win in the postseason consistently with average QB play. You don't put enough pressure on the opposing defense, and it puts too much pressure on your defense - if they don't have a near-perfect day, you lose.

Peters and Conley were great picks and should make an impact in the years to come. Should be fun to watch. (What? According to some, I NEVER say anything positive - just another false narrative) While I doubt he'll get his shot, I'd like to see if Murray can be that franchise guy, or if he fell for reasons other than what people here assume - namely, his height and injury history. Hopefully they get Houston signed long-term, because if they don't they are in deep, deep shit. The defense tends to carry this team, and Houston is the most important cog in said defense.

I've made a lot of great friends here that are still friends to this day, and will continue to be. This place was awesome when it was more community based - when there would be gatherings, tailgates, etc. Now, it's littered with trolls that take advantage of the anonymity of the internet and would never show their face in public. That attitude has weakened this place considerably, IMHO.

For those of you I call a friend, we'll be in touch. If anyone that isn't already a friend privately or on Facebook/Twitter wants to continue to keep in touch, I'll keep my PM's open for a week or so.

The front 7s we face to start the year have very talented pass rushers that get paid millions to expose lines that aren't cohesive units. Kush, Morse, Allen, Stephenson, Fanaika, etc.... You are going to have to shuffle these guys around before the season starts to find out which ones are worth a shit, and where.
Not stick them somewhere and hope they figure it out, while the guy who should be playing that spot has been running with the 2's.

I fully expect Kush to suck balls as much at center as McGlynn did at guard.
Add to that the evidence to suggest that Grubbs has begun his downward spiral, and that Allen has sucked, and that we have no idea what to expect Stephenson, or any of the other bodies that we are throwing out there, then there is reason to believe that there is no improvement on the line.

Maclin is a perfect fit for Smith, so that is assuredly an upgrade in this system, with Smith from Bowe.
Beyond Maclin, there are still nothing more than questions at WR.

The defense with DJ and DeVito returning is almost certainly going to improve against the run, and the pass defense will also almost certainly be improved.

But, at the end of the day, the defense wasn't really an issue last year, so the questions on offense are the ones that will have to be resolved to see this team improve.

Fact is, I nor anyone else has a factual argument to refute this... there are plenty of question marks to go around on a few units.

You're taking the wait and see approach, which is really the only way to go for those units considering what we know... but a few of us are willing to bank on improvement from this coaching staff when they're given better depth and overall talent to work with.

The argument basically boils down to... the talent on paper is there, does this coaching staff/overall team atmosphere have enough juice to make them quickly gel?

My belief is yes, yes they do... so many things are RIGHT with this club these days that I have to believe... when you have the right leadership and momentum, weaker units will perform above expectation because a certain standard has been been set.

No one thought denvers backs were any good, but the expectations and overall coaching/team helped them perform far beyond their talent level.

Don't blame you. I don't miss it. I stopped coming here for a few reasons:
1. Switched my internet use from laptop to all mobile device.
2. Apathy for the chiefs hit an all-time high.
3. My frustration coming here outweighed my fun and I knew it was time.

I still look in now and again but it's minutes per month instead hours.
