Justin Houston Contract Rumor...

Yeah, yeah.. Bleacher report.

http://bleacherreport.com/articles/2...ey-from-chiefs

Says Justin Houston wants a JJ Watt type contract from the Chiefs. Watt signed a six year 100 million deal with Houston.

http://www.spotrac.com/nfl/houston-texans/j.j.-watt/

Those numbers actually seem fairly reasonable, assuming Houston keeps at his trade. Probably ends up being a little bit less guaranteed, but I could certainly live with that salary cap hit year-by-year.

Pay one guy that much and expect to win consistently if he's not a QB. You will be forced to build around that player with cheaper young talent on that side of the ball to replace the decent guys you lose. You will be pigeon holed into putting all resources into that. In the meantime you will get Hoyers and Mallets to play QB because you won't be able to spend money or high draft picks on that side of the ball.

In case you missed it, Rookie salaries aren't nearly as high as they used to be.

Oh, and the Cap increases every year.

And for the last ****ing time.

Alex Smith is on a longterm deal. We also have the draft available to us for his replacement (though I'm not holding my breath).

In the time it takes for us to move on from Alex and give our new guy a fat QB contract, Justin Houston's old deal will have expired or it will be easy enough to restructure and not be a burden to us. That's the span of 5-6 years.

It's not that hard to figure out.

The funny thing is that outside of his testing positive at the combine....he hasn't had shit happen to him. Dude doesn't even get penalized ON the field...FFS.

You're dumb.

We have 50m+ in cap space next offseason.

We can pay Houston market value and still have enough left to get the needed guys signed and add to the roster with a slash or 2 in FA.

If you sign him to a deal like that there will be consequences and a trickle down effect that goes way beyond money. Dorsey isn't going to do that.

I will leave forever own my own accord if I am wrong but Dorsey won't give him Watt money and they will wait to sign him until the 2016 offseason for what they are offering now which is in the six year seventy five thousand range. Dorsey holds all the cards.

He's getting the tag you unrealistic ****s.

As the elite among the elite at rushing the passer, and just entering his prime, Houston likely falls in somewhere around J.J. Watt in terms of compensation, and I wouldn’t expect it to cost less than $15 million a year to secure his services. Kansas City paid big for Alex Smith when push came to shove and there is no doubt Houston is the best player on their team and a true difference maker.
This gives the good weatherman some credibility in my opinion. I'll be so happy if this gets done. Let's not let our Jared Allen get away again.
