I would have no condifence that Reynolds would get a fly ball there. More likely he hits into a DP.

Moss has barely missed several home runs so far. He just got us one win out of the deal.

The guy is a hitter. He actually looks a little like Holliday over the last 2 years. He doesn't hit the ball with quite as much authority but he also gets better lift on it. He should get every opportunity to unseat Adams at 1b next year.
I hope that he is, but Scruggs had a great week, too. Let's not turn him into a folk hero yet.

There's a large difference between Scruggs and Piscotty, though. Scruggs ceiling is as a bench bat or a really good minor league player. Piscotty's ceiling is as a starting OFer/IFer/Whatever.

Cruz is worse than Kozma. He's going to be at a -3 WAR for his career by the time the season is out and he'll have had about 1 season's worth of ABs.

He's just unbelievably terrible.
At this point Moe is just flat out asleep at the wheel when it comes to Kozma and Cruz. That ball that got by Cruz was infuriating. If he gets his shins down like he should, he easily smothers that ball. I can understand stabbing at the ball with no one one or a guy at first, but not with a guy at third. If there is any doubt, smother the ball.

He should DFA both Kozma and Cruz immediately because the idiot in the dugout will just continue to use both of them. Bring Easley back up and we already have Garcia on the 25 man, so bring up whoever to replace Kozma.

Do we have any up and coming catchers worth a crap in the minor leagues ?

Our expanded bullpen talent we brought in should help - as long as Rosenthal's agent keeps his efn nose out of the way.

Third hand info, so take with a grain of salt. Last week, Mo was at some rubber chicken dinner before the injury and someone asked him about that. He said that it's not worth the argument to fiddle with the 25th man. He knows they are both worthless, but he doesn't feel the argument is worth it. I disagree.

That is absolutely idiotic if true. He is the GM, there is no argument. If Captain Concussed wants to argue about getting rid of the two worst players in the league, his ass can go too. And a backup catcher isn't an ordinary 25th man, as we found out in the playoffs fairly recently.

You really don't see marked distinctions between the two?

Piscotty has a legitimate line drive stroke. He doesn't have quite as much authority as I'd hoped his 're-tooled' swing was creating, but you can definitely see the added loft. He's getting legit backspin on some of those liners and with just a little more strength, those balls he's putting into the gaps are gone.

He's a genuine big league hitter. And really, given his bat control and plus athleticism for a guy his size, he does seem ideally suited for the 2 hole.

I'm not arguing that he can't play CF - never have. I'm just saying that his defensive reputation has become GG caliber in large part due to the spectacular Mets series (which has taken on Brendan Ryan vs. the Braves status in lore at this point) and the broadcast team overselling him. It's not that good.

He can play CF defensively. He's better suited to the corners, especially as he ages and adds a little weight, but he can play there and his bat can keep him there, especially if he can learn to be more selective.

Oh c'mon.

No, he's barely missed one HR and it was an opposite field liner that he hit on the sweet spot. That doesn't count as barely missed because there isn't much else he could've done to drive it out.

Yesterday's AB was a DP grounder every time. I'm not going to go out of my way to pat a dude on the back for (by his own admission) mis-hitting a ball badly enough to find a hole.

I remember him pitching against us but not really what he brought to the table. His slider looked pretty damn good the inning I saw him pitch. You got a good slider and a respectable fastball you can prosper in relief.

he has put 3-4 balls on the warning track. I'm not saying he is going to be good. Or the trade wasn't a disaster it appears to be right now.

I think Reynolds would have GDP'd. For me personally, I've seen enough to know Reynolds should be doing what he is now, pinch hit and spot start a game. Maybe Moss is that same player. Hopefully not because he is our only chance to have any production from a 1B this year. Unless they can get a LF waiver guy and then Piscotty plays 1B.
