We were spoiled with Pujols anchoring that bag for the best 11 years of any player ever. I'd settle for a .280/20/90 guy now.

Yep, just let that settle in.....if Jay is hitting even .250 he is playing and Grichuk is on the bench. He keeps playing like this there will be talk of contention for ROY. Grichek needs to be attending bible study just to be on the safe side.

He is cable of carrying us in a playoff series all by himself when he gets hot.

Adams was trash this year as well; his injury isn't really justification for any struggles.

Holliday would be a nice addition, no doubt. If nothing else, he'd get Moss out of the lineup. He's mis-cast as a 3 hitter with his new approach and is now more of a 5 hitter, but he's definitely a guy we miss.

Really, as unnerving as this is, Moss is almost certainly the lynchpin of this offense. If he can go out there and provide a .200 ISO and a .275 BA from the left side, he can change the complexion of this lineup especially against RHP.

You know what I really REALLY love?

That the !@#$ing Nationals, who routinely send awful messages to their players, are 2 games in back of the Mets and are underperforming yet again.

You guys had the best record in baseball and fought your asses off for the #1 seed? Tough shit, we're shutting down your ace because his health is more important than your shot at a championship. No big deal, we just hope you understand that this one player is more important than ALL of you.

Hey Harper, sure you play with your hair on fire night after night, but remember that time that you didn't sprint down the line on a grounder? Take a !@#$ing seat kid, we don't stand for that lack of hustle; nevermind the fact that you play harder night after night than every other guy on this team. And then 2 days later the dude ruins his entire season diving headfirst like Pete Rose.

Hey Drew Storen - man what a great story coming back from our attempts to bury you behind Rafael Soriano because Pete Kozma got butt-lucky against you once. You've turned yourself into one of the top 5 closers in baseball despite all our best efforts to undermine your confidence. But hey, tough shit - we're going to trade for a damn malcontent who demands to be installed over you as closer despite being worse than you, then we're going to guarantee his contract for 2016 just to make double sure that you don't get the closer gig in your walk year. Hope you didn't think performance actually mattered for shit here.

The way the Nats shit on their own guys is just a complete mind-****. People wonder why they constantly underachieve but nobody ever points out just how poor of a job they do in establishing a team culture. I still think that one of these days the raw talent will win out, but they've dicked around long enough that the Mets have up and put together one of the best rotations I've ever seen and they may just take that division by the throat.

Greg Garcia scheduled to make his first career start at SS today if the rains let up.

I'd say the final hurdle to finally getting Kozma off the roster will be "Ryan Jackson Syndrome". That guy would hit all season in the minors and play stellar defense...then come up to the majors and puke on his shoes. And usually his struggles in the minors would start right when rumblings about an imminent callup would start.

He'd stop hitting for 2 weeks but get the call anyway (because SS was a barren wasteland). He'd have a routine 2 hopper hit his way and then just drop it...or kick it....or throw it away. I haven't seen too many ballplayers more averse to success at this level than Jackson was.

It was damn disappointing - he just never gave the team a reason to continue playing him. Bourjos has kinda put himself in the same situation here in STL - just keeps hitting himself right out of playing time. Here's hoping Jackson doesn't do the same thing.

I kinda thought Bourjos would turn out. Dude just can hit.

It only we could intertwine his defense with Bourjos bat.

Incessant trolling damn well should be against the TOS. For the last couple years the board has become the den of GoChiefs and those that aspire to be just like GoChiefs. The ignore function could be used but that's treating the symptom instead of the disease.

Best way to combat trolling, just leAve it alone. It will go away when they don't get attention.

Sadly, Tony Cruz is still here and batting 7th.

Oh well, that's probably still better than Yadi batting 5th.

Can't win 'em all, I guess...
