All hope isn't lost against Cincinnati

Sean Smith is coming back and Andy Dalton has the propensity to shit the bed at the most inopportune times.

More huge than it seems because they awarded Alex Smith a contract. They know he's the type of QB that needs everything around him to be good in order to succeed. He has issues. Has more now because this is year 2 with a crap OL. He's regressing from his first year in KC and it shows. This was by biggest concern going into the season. I had them at 7-9 with BAD Alex and SHIT OL. I had them at 11-5 with Good Alex and Good OL. A just "good enough" OL, which is the ceiling for the one currently assembled IMO, is total fail for a Qb like Alex Smith. If you're gonna roll with him, like the Chiefs made the decision to do, then you give him a good OL, cuz dude has ISSUES.

A new OL isn't going to fix Alex Smith. All a new OL would do is buy him time to check down. He's still going to be afraid to throw the ball. The only way to improve Alex, sadly, is for him to have zero confidence in his defense.

A new OL would allow Jamaal to win games for you and hide Alex. But I really don't want to go back to that world. It's lose-lose. You basically have to root for your defense to suck to get your QB to elevate his game.

Our wide outs won't get separation on their corners.

Leon Hall
Dre Kirkpatrick
Dennard
Pacman

Their front 7 is gonna give our OL real trouble.

Alex Smith is gonna have a bad game.

A really bad game

Based on paper, I'd say yes; but for some reason, this team always seems to do the opposite of what you'd expect based on matchups.

Last year he had good games against good defenses like the Patriots, Jets, Rams, Bills and Seahawks. Then he turned around and struggled against shit defenses like the Titans, Raiders and Steelers.

So far this year it's been a similar story. He balled out against a good defense in the Texans and, aside from the two INTs, really moved the ball well against an even better Broncos defense. Then he turned around and had his worst game as a Chief against a shitty Packers defense.

I'm not saying he's going to go off on the Bengals, FYI. Just saying.. It's a weird trend.

I dont know about all that. Im simply saying that once they went with Alex Smith, the plan always should have been to not have so many questions on the OL.

I wish I could muster up this kind of blissful naivety. It would make life as a Chiefs fan so much easier. Being a realist and a Chiefs fan is depressing.

Advanced stats said Smith had more time to throw than any QB this week....took seven sacks. He is broken beyond repair.

I'm talking about last season as well. That OL was a joke. He arrived in KC as damaged goods and has become even more so now. Once he arrived, priority # 1 should have been no risk taking on the OL. Dude has David Carr syndrome now, and you're right, he is beyond repair.

Many of his sacks, he has options to throw to. Agree the line was even more of an issue last year, but it's infuriating to see guys running free and he's staring at the pass rush.

Oh, I totally agree. Deal is he's so shell shocked, he panics and doesn't look up to be able to see them.

Here's the issue. He will still check down even with time. He won't throw the ball in tight spots. That had nothing to do with protection.

Last year the Patriots were destroyed by teh Chiefs in a humiliating, public, Monday night beatdown.

After that game and the week thereafter, Belichick was repeatedly skewered about his team's performance, whether Brady was too old, whether Brady had enough talent around him to help him out, etc. etc. Belichick repeatedly answered all such questions with "We are on to Cincinnati". They then smoked the Bengals, and went on a tear, losing only one game the rest of the season (at Green Bay no less), and of course won a Super Bowl.

Maybe the Chiefs find similar fortune after their own poor showing on the road against a good team on Monday Night Football. Right up until they lose to the Pats in the AFCCG of course, but still!

Borderline troll post by Asterix. But that's isn't shocking.

Smith is leagues away from Brady's skill and Belicheat is miles away from Reid in terms of coaching ability.

The 2014 Patriots and the 2015 Chiefs are nowhere near the same team circumstantially.

It's your mantra. Alex has problems but when he had better protection, he did throw down field and in tight spots. How do you explain the playoff game and the last part of 2013? Since then, he's regressed. In my opinion, the SHIT OL's have not helped him. He arrived as damaged goods, and is now damaged beyond repair.

You've been trolling me for days. You and I will not agree on much, and have too contrasting opinions on most everything to ever be able to have a good discussion. So you ought to stop all the trolling.
