Three million attendance? Take it to the bank.

From what I read, initially they were asking for above $10M and they were offered $7M and declined. So once he declined that those teams backed out and the only teams left were ones that already blew their spending limit.

Not sure I'm all giddy about it, but he is a CF prospect and thats like the one area the Cubs are kind of thin at.

They were already well over the limit and wont be signing anyone for the next two periods because of it so might as well for $3M.

That said, usually the money tells you how good the guy will likely be now that so many teams have heavily invested in the international scouting markets. It's not much different than the Diaz scenario where people were talking about him getting $30 million to replace Jeter in NY. Suddenly there was no market for him at all and the Cardinals got him for utility infielder money.

Then he proceeded to prove he's probably not much more than a RH version of Greg Garcia.

If the market on him fell all the way to $3 million, there are probably some pretty serious issues with his game.

yep, the money tells you whether they will be any good or not. Haven't seen any bargains yet be successful.

I can't believe I'm saying this but I've got no major problems with Mathenys lineup.

I find it interesting that throughout the regular season, Maddon only hit the pitcher 9th 12 times. But now in the playoffs, the first two games the pitcher is batting 9th. No balls.

Its a good theory but come crunch time you go with whats comfortable.

I'd be more comfortable if it wasnt necessary to nuke your offense when Lester pitches with David Ross behind the plate. Here's to retirement!

David Ross is terribad. Add to that Lester's yips with throwing to first and the normal terrible base stealing Cards could get something going on the bases.

Carp will get on and take a huge lead daring him to throw over. I bet there is a plan to exploit Lesters inability to throw to bases. Bunt to him and see if he throws it away etc.

They've been working on Lester throwing to first and he now has a pretty good move. He actually picked off Starlin Marte early this season. /endsarcasm

He got Peralta the same way. Peralta's tubby ass just stood there flat-footed while Lester lobbed one over.

I know that we are not going to keep beating you on a regular basis like we have the last 10 years or so. I'm not ready to start losing to the Cubs. Especially in the playoffs. This isn't your time. Know your place.
