****Official Royals @ Astros ALDS Game 3 Gamethread 10/11****

Volquez Vs. Keuchel.

I'll be at work when the lineups come out, so if a mod wants to insert them when they get announced, feel free.

It's not like football, every team now is within ~5% of each other.

I'm seeing a slump. BAs for this team have been miserable for weeks, irrespective of pitching.

Down .006 in September, up .004 in October. 4.469 runs/game and 9.24 hits/game all season, 4.8/9.3 in September and 4.14/8.8 in the even smaller sample size of October.

It's a weird vibe among fans... I was at a thing the other night and some stranger was saying how much fun last year was, and that this year just didn't have the same feel and would probably end badly. Well, chances are, it will, it's not like sweeping the ALDS/ALCS happens every year... but, it's not like they didn't slump at all in September last year (losing 4 of 6 to Detroit and 3 of 4 to Boston), and of course there's added pressure this year and the shitty performances by Cueto.... but still, last season was a pipe dream, this season is what almost every other team in baseball has to face in the postseason.

The Astros aren't destined to be the '14 Royals any more than the '15 Royals are destined for failure... baseball doesn't give a shit.

The Royals were more selective at the plate and had more tough ABs versus Dallas Keuchel than I've ever seen them have. Just couldn't get the big hit.

I really feel like the game could have turned differently if after Cain's HR - the ump would have correctly given Hos a walk on that pitch that was about 8 inches below the strike zone. After that Morales got on, then Keuchel threw a wild pitch. Keuchel was a little rattled. We had a good chance for a big inning.

Awesome that we get an ump who's pretty accurate except for adding like 6 inches to the bottom of the strike zone all day - vs. freaking Keuchel.

Please bro, ask Correa and Lowrey about the low called strike 3 with runners in scoring position...

Dont blame the umps, just play better next time.

Exactly. They put together a lot of tough at bats and put themselves in position to win. I thought it was a great effort against a badass pitcher.
