Would drafting a QB in the first round renew your excitement for the Chiefs?

I think it's the ONLY thing that can reel me back in as a fan and get me interested, again.

An elite QB makes the defense better by keeping them off the ****ing field.

If no big time improvement (playoffs), you draft a qb in the first and toss him right in with an updated and improved line in front of him.

Besides, Alex is on the books for too much money for it to make sense to draft a qb next year. If he doesn't take the team to the playoffs with the improved oline, you cut him and the remaining salary which wont be such a big cap hit at that point.

Denver rookie QB John Elway, on Jack Lambert, after Lambert and the Steelers knocked Elway out of his first game as a pro (1983).

Let's face it.. just be ****ing honest.

With the WRs and pass pro OLs that Alex has had... when they need a two minute drive and it's obvious we need to pass the ball for chunks... there is not a lot of support there for the QB to succeed.

You all say Alex is average or less. You all generally agree that the playcalling, OL, and WRs #2/5 are meh..

yet you still expect this average or less QB to play great regardless of all of this.. and get angry at only him when he doesn't. If able to comprehend these words right now, does that make any damn sense?

Sounds more like you know the team around the QB is shit, and want some mythical savior at QB to make it all okay. Man, that's just not realistic.

Not if they're picking lower than 3 or 4. Taking a 2nd tier guy in the middle or end of the first or in the second would be a nice change but wouldn't be what I think we need to do/have done. And no I'm not saying not to do it if that's the only option, just that my expectations wouldn't be as much as with a blue chip pick.

Even with a top 3 pick they'd still need to get rid of Reid. And get rid of Alex Smith. I wouldn't want any of his mindset polluting a young qb.

So I guess my answer would be a qualified maybe. I'm not sure anything can make me vested with Reid in charge. But it might be a start.

That was a complete collapse from HC down to any WR that stayed in bounds. It was a joke.

This was a team that acted like it'd never been there...

Short of Charles there is nothing in place for any QB to have success.

That's on the shoulders of Reid/Dorsey, however that draft/talent acquisition power dynamic works out...

Looking at the Poll....

This is one desperate fan base for relevancy....

Can you imagine the excitement, hope and pride Chiefs fans would have knowing for the first time in over 3 decades they are actually committed to winning.... It would be pure emotional chaos!...

Again, my comment clearly states Superbowl winners. Not playoff appearances. Big, big difference.

Show me proof.

Because Brett Favre, Marino, and Peyton Manning only have 1 or less SB to their name meanwhile Tom Brady earned 3 rings behind an elite defense while he put up game manager stats in his first 4 seasons in the league. Russell Wilson gets to the SB 2 years in a row throwing less than 220 yards/game.

When will you morons learn???

Brady was an elite game manager with New England early on. Russell Wilson is an effective game manager.

People need to stop using the word "game manager" talking about Alex Smith. A game manager's main responsibility is to extend drives and to close games. Alex Smith has generally been around 33% on third downs which is awful and averages < 20 TDs a season, and he has won ZERO games for the Chiefs in the final drive. If Alex is supposed to be a game manager, he's really, really ****ing bad at it.

And by the way, Russell Wilson averages about 250 all purpose yards, averages 25+ TDs per year, and has as many comebacks as Alex Smith already, despite playing a shitload less games.

Yep, still waiting for proof. Wilson is a game manager behind a defense that ranks one of the best in history (Despite being a receiver friendly league). Roeth won two rings before he emerged as a legitimate passer, again with manager level stats. Elway did it twice during his decline to retirement. AIkman 3 times.

This theory that elite QB play can make up for a crap defense is laughable. Otherwise, Aaron Rodgers would have 4 more rings to his name.

Refute this... http://espn.go.com/nfl/player/gamelo...roethlisberger

Roeth throws 206 yards/game 17TD's to 15INT's on the season and that team wins a ring.

If Smith put up those stats this season CP would have imploded by now
