Mike Trout is just a year removed from getting $24 million AAV. How the **** can you justify giving the same to Heyward?

That's not entirely fair. The Angels had Trout with 3 more years of team control and the contract he signed reflected that leverage, as did its structure.

For the free agent portion of his extension (2018-2020), the Angels will be paying him $34 million/season.

If the Nats are smart, they'd offer him 10 yrs and $350 million tomorrow.

I still wouldn't touch Heyward at $24M AAV.

There's just no way he deserves the money of people driving in 120+ RBI's.

I'd be looking at an Adrian Gonzalez type deal with maybe another year or two.

I'm hoping the Cubs offer is contingent on a Soler deal that doesn't come through. **** those numbers.

There are only 6 position players in the league making higher than $24M AAV. I cant go down a list of best position players and get to #7 and slot in Jason Heyward.

If he's 'heard something' you can bet your ass it was somebody trying to drive their client's price tag up. He went from whoring himself out to Scott Boras to pretty much whoring himself out to anyone that will text him back during the winter meetings.

Heyward is a player that I would throw in a player opt clause after year 4. I would take my chances to get his best 4 WAR years and let somebody else pay for the latter years.
