2015 Central Division title. Won 100 games. Lost in the NLDS.

• Made the postseason 11 times in the last 15 seasons.
• Only 1 losing season since 2000.
• Reached the World Series 4 times since 2004 and won as many championships (two) the past eight seasons as it did from 1965 to 2005.
• Made the NLCS 9 times including the last 4 years 2011-2014
• Three million attendance? Take it to the bank.
• 65 post season wins since 2004. 22+ wins more than any other team.

You should totally use the career ISO of a guy that hasn't been that player in 36 months.

You can stop acting like you know anything about Jason Heyward. The guy is a completely different guy than he came into the league as. Fowler's no juggernaut, Heyward just isn't a very good hitter.

The market salries are what they are. We needed a #4 when Lynn went down. We will be okay with Conley/Gonzalez/Lyons sharing a 5th starter and spot starter role now.

I'm not going to bitch about paying a guy who has pitched an average of 199 innings/year for the last three years and gives six innings per start the going rate, especially when all five of our top starters have all had significant injuries within the last two years.

Reliability in a pitcher is a skill the Cardinals are most in need of.

There are two types of pitchers - those that have gotten hurt and those that will.

Leake's simply the latter. Everyone would've said Lance Lynn had that 'durability' skill right up until the point his elbow let go.

Large numbers is how you deal with pitcher injuries and frankly, it's a failure of the system that the Cardinals have had to go outside the organization and pay market money for a 4th/5th starter. They have no hitters anywhere in the system because Mozeliak spent 5 years using virtually all his draft capital on pitchers and yet here we are, still needing to spend big money on a pitcher (and still ignoring our glaring lack of offense).

I'm looking forward to seeing a contact pitcher deal with a defense that has maybe one plus player on the field (and that's Grichuk for the brief periods of time he isn't hurt and presuming that he manages to spit on enough balls in the dirt to stay in the lineup; neither of which is assured).

Take a couple of deep breaths. You've taken a Clay turn the last week or so where everything the Cardinals do is proof that they are run poorly. You were going to be upset if they signed Heyward because of his batting profile anyway.

Yes, the Cubs are better. They still haven't won anything and the Cardinals have an aging core. This team can still make the playoffs, and if it can't, at least it has those extra picks to use and vets with some value to spin off to other teams.

I'm going to put more faith in a 28 year old Mike Leake and a draft pick than a 38 year old John Lackey.

yep, we need someone to pitch 200 innings after Lynn went down. Counting on Garcia and the AAA/AAAA pitchers to give you that is not a solid plan.
