Really like this guy too. 34 QB pressures and 11.5 stuffs.

this draft is tailor made for us in the event of emergency due to the strength of the DL and CB positions.

I want Dorsey to do everything he can to keep both Howard and Smith, but if both took off for insane money, I truly think we could find replacements for these guys without a substantial initial dropoff

You don't think that a rookie CB would be that big of a substantial dropoff to Smith?

With the talent available I think we could be okay. Looking back, we got killed bc we had Jamel Fleming and Marcus Cooper who got raped.

I think that signing an additional vet like Casey Heyward or Jeremy Lane whike adding a CB through the deaft would be ideal

Lane would be an outstanding depth pickup but he just might be surprisingly expensive.

Would you be willing to give him the contract that we gave Smith 3 years ago? He might be able to get close to that. And with his injury history, it's possible that we could end up at $5 million/yr for a guy that spends half that contract in the tub.

He has the talent to excel in this system. His injury history should keep him from expecting to start somewhere so the Gaines/Lane battle would be a great one. I just worry that the injury history and the amount of money in the market may make him a pretty high risk proposition.

This is very true. I'm wondering if Casey Heyward would be better? He's a bit streaky but I think he could be a decent starter.

I want us to load up at the position. Peters, Smith (or Vet FA), Gaines, Nelson and early draft pick with Parker as additional emergency insurance.
I want to be ready for any injury at all times at CB bc it's so important and we can't afford to have Bums like Cooper holding us back like this year.

With this same token, I want to add another OLB even if Tamba comes back.
