What is you favorite thing about ChiefsPlanet? What keeps you coming back?

While I'm waiting for the wildcard polls to close in the Hottest Celebrity Contest, I figured I'd take the time to pose a question to you guys.

I began lurking CP around 2011, I believe. Since then, I've come to love the place. It's certainly the website I visit the most often. So, I've asked myself, why is that? What is it about this place that draws me in so much?

I think one of the major reasons is that the board has helped me cope with being a fan of what, at times, seems to be a cursed franchise. The playoff loss in 2013 was rough on me. I'm a bit ashamed to admit that I'm one of those guys that tied a bit of my self worth to the Chiefs. I used to get so wrapped up in being a fan, that when they were being embarrassed, I was certain that people were looking down on me for being a fan. When they lost that playoff game in 2013, I couldn't talk to anybody outside of this website about it for months. However, that night on CP, other posters, who were sharing the same misery as me, were laughing and making jokes about the game. I found myself laughing at the posts, and it helped to get over it. Through you guys, I've gotten a lot better about letting things like that playoff loss go, and not getting so wound up about the Chiefs.

That's one of the many reasons I love CP, but it's not the main reason. I think the main reason I love this place is the personalities. CP has not shortage of them, and the way they interact with each other is extremely entertaining. Whether it's a Baby Lee/Dane McCloud feud over copyright law, or a cosmo/srvy feud about the mating habits of Africanized honey bees, they're all a spectacle. I find myself having to check every thread, regardless of topic, just to see what it has become.

So, what is it for you? Why do you keep coming back to this awful place? It certainly can't be the Chiefs.

And the Chiefs game threads are always entertaining, although I only get to read them in progress when the team is on the road.

I really think it is the most unbiased, best written game summary in town. A person could miss the game and still understand what happened by reading this!!

I started searching for a Chiefs forum back in 2008 and I joined in early 2009. I liked the structure and topics. Since I never lived anywhere near Kansas City but wound up being a fan since 1970 while living in New Jersey, I needed a place to drown my sorrows and commiserate with like minded fans.

It's been a fun place, it gives me a tons of laughs, I never really get mad at anyone on here, I've met several fellow posters over the years, and I visit here nearly every day.

I think it's run very well and a good overall community.

I came for the Chiefs mutual masterbation at first- which being a Chiefs fan is more akin to a S&M fetish. That grew to the general football discussion - including some stellar Draft posts by some.

Then the general discussion with an absence of PC BS or mods nannying every topic makes for some great and hilarious commentary. An open forum brings many perspectives, and valuable insight. I'll 2nd the quality of the Royals discussions as well as the Media Center, and the resourcefulness of virtually any topic. The genius of the subforums is key to not cluttering up the discourse - esp DC. You can post about any topic and get great feedback and advice.

In spite of the inflated drama that comes with any community, 90% of the forum is worthwhile, and probably 95% of the members make a unique contribution to the makeup of CP. I think that's fringe in terms of most BBSs- in a good way.
If nothing else, it's amusing to see stories in the media that look like they've been completely lifted from CP.

I've been around here regularly for 10+ years, though I don't have nearly the post volume or recognition of some, but I find CP to be a well of amusement, information, and supportive contribution.
