Tidbits so far:

-180 players exactly on his draft board
-Clark's statement about the tampering appeal will say it all (he sounded pissed off when he said it).

Looks like a trade down will not happen for those curious.

I think that just doesn't happen. After the first two days, I'm sure every teams board looks completely different.

How else do you end up with a guy like Albert Wilson, who we gave a 5th round grade, as an UDFA?

That makes it sound like a trade down could be likely, because when you pick 28th all the second tier talent you like might be gone, and there's not much difference between the talent available in the next 30 picks, so you could move to the bottom of the second and add picks while not not really losing much real value.

How is the second tier talent you like going to be gone when tier two is 13-30?

If there is a pool of up to 30 players in the same tier, then KC will have a shot of 3 of them with the 28th pick.

From Matt Verderame:

"When asked about whether or not the Chiefs would look at taking an outside linebacker early in the draft, Dorsey stated he expects Dee Ford and Tamba Hali to take the reigns while the team perhaps looks for rotational depth. In other words, there is not going to be a first-round pick spent on an edge rusher."

From this conference, all signs point to defensive back in round 1.

I think when Dee got into the games, he began to play, he started to contribute. There was one game he had a couple sacks there. So he's going to contribute as it goes on. I would expect good things from those two. Now, the key there is to have rotational depth. And does that rotational depth come from within our system right now? Or do we go and get it in the draft? I think as the draft goes along, you'll see what happens there. But at the end of the day, I got No. 50 -- he'll be here."

The Chiefs would field a remarkably different (read: lesser) defense without Houston on the field. His status will generate plenty of attention as April and May turn into June, July and beyond.

That didn't stop Dorsey from gushing over his prized defender, though, saying: "He is dialed in. He's excited, I mean ... when you hear from him, you see, he's going to be Justin Houston when he gets back here."
