I'd rather move down and rack up Day 2 picks. Don't see much difference from bottom half of Thursday vs. Friday talent wise. Goodell can suck a shriveled dick for taking a 3rd rounder away.
Trading down rarely results in better picks.

Trade up for talent.

I'm fine with trading up for a player too, but I'd be amazed if Dorsey did it. Who would you trade up for? Will Fuller?

I just can't get excited about the players that will likely be available at 28 this year.

A potential top notch corner is worth trading up for. (Alexander, WJ3?)

A pick that I would love is a guy like Karl Joseph, could come in and become a S/ILB hybrid like the Mark Barron's and Deone Bucannon's of the world. Makes subbing much more ideal.

Neither is categorically right all the time.

Trading up for Julio Jones was right.

Trading down and having an extra third to draft Justin Houston was also right.
The question is, does the cost of trading up for Ramsey outweigh the benefit of picking up an extra player?

Because trading up vs down can be a four to five player swing.

The Chiefs didn't trade down with the intent to choose Justin Houston.

It was complete and utter luck that he was available AND that he became a pass rushing force, when healthy, in the regular season.

The fact still remains: Trading up yields better talent.

Trading down is a bigger crapshoot than staying.

There's no guarantee that the player you trade up for will be good, either. So it's a crapshoot moving up over staying put as well. This year I would rather have more shots at the day 2 picks over hoping one of the to guys pans out.

I just don't think we are one player away and I would be careful to plan for life after Hali, Charles, Smith, and DJ.

But otherwise, I'm totally with you. Go get your guy, if you have one.
