Makes sense actually... The NFL and TNF have started to get so bad the the NFL knows they need to put the large markets on in hopes of the locals actually watching.

From what I've seen of him this year, he's seemed dispassionate and bored.

A coworker of mine who's a Packers fan said that there are rumors that Rodgers has decided that he's good enough that he doesn't need to practice hard, and it's been causing friction with the coach.

I agree that Aaron Rodgers has declined from what he was a few years ago... but the current version of Aaron Rodgers is still better than 90% of the starting QB's in the NFL today (which also says a lot about the lack of quality QB's in today's NFL).

Both of these posts ring true to me... his head has probably gotten too big, he more than likely runs over McCarthy because Mike is scared to get in his top studs face about playing within his system

Mike needs a heart to heart with the other Mike, Holmgren that is... on how to rein in a cocky gunslinger

You're right about Thompson, Dane... he has done a terrible job of building that team around Aaron, when greybeard Julius Peppers is still your best pass rusher 4-5 years after his acquisition... things arent getting done

And thats just the defense

I was just thinking about this the other day. Moreso than McCarthy becoming stale, I think the braintrust in their front office has been depleting and falling further and further behind the curve. Similarly to what's been happening in Indy.

I think Ted Thompson is too stubborn in his refusal to be active in free agency and instead relying exclusively on the draft.

I understand the whole "build through the draft" mantra but it seems like Green Bay takes that to an extreme level.

When Green Bay won a Super Bowl a few years ago, one of their key players on defense... Charles Woodson, was a free agent acquisition.

Yep, we should all be glad that Dorsey isnt so rigid in his interpretation of the Thompson way

Draft only is a great guiding principle, but sometimes you gotta jump out there and grab players that you believe can make a difference
