Madden '17
Anyone getting a little excited? Seems like they have really made an effort this year.

Franchise mode is getting an overhaul according to recent news:

1. Full player editing while your franchise is progressing.



2. Coaching/FO decisions.



3. In-game ticker with live updates.



4. Practice squads.



5. New commentary team that will actually talk about things happening in your franchise.

6. Draft has been tweaked with more busts/gems.

Gameplay improvements:

1. Zone Coverage overhaul.



2. New ball-carrier special moves.

3. Real gap control on defense.

4. Real ball physics. In the past the ball would tether to a player based on ratings.

They also overhauled kicking to make it a challenge now. There's a new three-click system and weather/location will play a factor. Also, apparently on clutch kicks if the opponent "freezes" the kicker by calling a timeout the kicking meter will disappear and you have to make the kick by muscle memory. Kicks and punts can also be blocked.

How badly all of this shit is ****ed up on release remains to be seen but it does seem like they are making a big effort.

I like that the new conservative ratings leave room for improvement, but if Hill is only deserving of a 97 speed and 96 acceleration rating, what does a 99 in both categories look like?

Not sure, I think he was closer to 75/76.

The guy I drafted 23rd overall was an 80 out of the blocks, is now a 93 after two seasons. Alex was NOT re-signed.

I couldn't wait to cut Alex, Hali and Colquitt to get out from under those horrendous deals.

Hilariously, I simulated the entire 2016 season to avoid playing with Alex. He ended the season as an MVP runner up and took us to the Championship game, IIRC.

That offseason I drafted a QB and benched his ass. It was hilarious having a QB with, like, an 84 OVR and QUICK development status on the bench for a 78 OVR rookie.

I think I ended up trading Hali and Alex once the dead cap hit was more manageable. Colquitt got cut.

I held on to JC and DJ for the life of their contracts. Jamaal did some nice work for me until his contract expired, after which he joined the Pats, and DJ hung on for a couple seasons before retiring. Dude was like a 77 OVR by the time he hung them up. Shit was killing me but I didn't have the resources to fill so many holes so quickly so I stuck it out with him.

I think I ended up cutting Maclin at some point too. Still waiting to get out from under Fisher's contract. **** that guy.
