Patrick Mahomes met with Chiefs

This is relevant because Miller is pretty close with the Chiefs in general.

They have also met with Watson (as Clay showed), and Trubisky.

So,he's strong, fast athletic ans with a decent arm. His accuracy wasn't great last year but it's possible he could be fixed. I can live with that.

I want Kizer as my number 1. Then Mahomes. I don't see Kizer getting passed Arizona.

He's not really fast or athletic. Piss-poor shuttle times, near the bottom in the 40, lousy broad jump, bad vertical, dead last in the 3-cone. Those are all 'athleticism' and explosion drills and he was in the bottom 1/3 of all participating quarterbacks in all of them. 'Lumbering' was putting it nicely; dude looked more like Landry Jones out there than he looked like McNabb.

On tape he flashes quicker than that at times, but it also makes me wonder if he didn't just get really goddamn lazy and fall out of shape. If that's the case, that's a worse sign than anything.

I wanted to like the guy, I really did. But he sucked last year (badly) and while Pest says it's all Kelly's fault, it's also very likely that teams adjusted to a more pocket-oriented offense than they were expecting in 2015 when he unexpectedly (sorta) won the job and Golson transferred. Trying to figure out what ND was going to do as a defense was a little tricky in 2015 and the number of times that Golson hit an open WR is a testament to that. He made very few high degree of difficulty throws, even at his best in '15.

It's the frame. The guy is just built like a goddamn QB. But his arm strength has shown only slightly above average and his accuracy just isn't there. Once he went out there and just shit all over the combine, he started to look more and more like a 2nd or even 3rd round pick to me.

I'm just out of positive things to say about him. The best you can do is what Pestilence did and essentially explain away his failures. But when it comes right down to it, you're making an argument around other people's negatives rather than his positives at that point. That's a pretty sketchy way to go about building a narrative for a first round pick. When 'yeah, but' is the most important part of his scouting report, maybe the 2nd day is the place for him...

The Pick: QB Patrick Mahomes, Texas Tech
Draft a developmental quarterback for the inevitable decline of Alex Smith or plug holes and try to load up for one more Super Bowl run?
Those are the options facing the Chiefs with pick No. 27 overall. With no viable long-term option on the roster behind Smith—unless the team keeps Nick Foles in a restructured deal—it makes sense to grab a talented quarterback if one happens to be available and then focus on team-building in Rounds 2-7.
Patrick Mahomes has unreal tools, but needs his mechanics re-worked and time to acclimate to a pro offense before he's thrown to the wolves of an NFL defense. Andy Reid would be the ideal QB mentor for Mahomes to learn under, which might make this match too good to be true.
It's on.

He looked pretty fast on the highlight reel, but I see he ran a 4.83 40 and his shuttle times were awful. It looks like maybe he didn't train for the combine because he didn't throw for shit either.

That speak terribly well to his work ethic?

He'd better wreck some pro-days to show that he was sick or something because I saw a kid that looked disinterested as hell and his 'performance' supports that.

That's a shame. I can't wrap my head around these kids that have known this was coming all year, the biggest job interview you'll ever have and you either fail a piss test, don't show up in shape or you pull some dumb shit and get into it with the medical staff because you don't want to feel disrespected.

I'm gonna be sad when Mahomes gets drafted elsewhere.

I'd be beyond excited about this teams future if Dorsey drafts Mahomes...especially if they move up to do so.

I'd love to see a confidence move like that.

Best case scenario would be Alex Smith balling out of his mind next year after drafting Mahomes and KC can move Alex for a nice pick.
