Which QB Do You Like - Page 2

Ok gentlemen, time to let us know what QB you'd like to see the Chiefs draft this year. Maybe list the top 3-5 guys in order of preference.....along with a bit of commentary about each guy. I'll start this with....

(1) P Mahomes - Yeah his footwork stinks and yeah he played in a "gimmick" offense, but he is the absolute antithesis of Alex Smith. Mahomes is a gunslinger whereas Alex has the mentality of an accountant. So, in that singular regard, Mahomes is most appealing. Add in the fact that he has a cannon for an arm and you have the Chiefs starting QB in 2018.

2) D Webb - First of all, I like this kid's pedigree - son of a high school coach so he's been immersed in football/jargon for a long time. Plus he has prototypical size for an NFL QB, an excellent arm capable of all NFL throws, good pocket presence and a high football IQ. Give this kid a year or two to learn behind Alex, and he could end up being a damn good NFL QB. A lot to like about this guy.

3) M Trubisky - A bit concerned that he was only a starter for one year, but he appears to have a very solid NFL skillset. His floor might be higher than any other QB available this year. A safe selection wtih considerable upside.

4) D Watson - Everytime I see/hear mention of Watson as an NFL QB I think of Robert Griffin III. Pretty much similar skillsets, size, arm and football savvy. I thought RGIII would be a dynamite NFL QB, but sadly, he leaned on his running ability too much. I fear the same could happen with Watson. If available, I'd definitely take a flyer on him, but not without some concern.

5) D Kizer - Another strong armed QB with prototypical NFL size. His stats for 2016 were rather "meh", but there were definitely times when he looked damn good. Additionally, his supporting cast for 2016 was also rather "meh". That said, Kizer clearly did not raise the level of play in his surrounding players. Very, high ceiling, but could also be a total bust.

Reid's guy is Watson. KC is going to trade up and get this guy. I'm telling you.

Meh...kind of warming up to Trubisky a little bit...even though his lack of experience and flashes of Smith scare me a little bit. I could deal with a rich man's version of Smith...or like a Gannon.

did they attend the clemson pro day as well?

There are only 2 QB-sized prospects - Kizer and Webb. Watching the combine, it seemed like all these guys were under-sized. That doesn't mean they can't be a Brees or Wilson, but I've always preferred stout guys like Big Ben.

All that said, Watson reminds me of a smaller Cam Newton. Poise, charisma, winner.

Trubisky looks good but looks like he's always nervous. That can't be good.

Mahomes may be a gunslinger in games but he also didn't have much moxie.

Seems like Webb didn't get much pub during the combine but what I saw I liked. The QB coach/dad thing is intriguing. Much like Andrew Luck.

Guess I'll leave this up to Andy.

Ross Tucker/Greg Cosell podcast on QB prospects. Listened to this today. Interesting.

Notes:

Mahomes - erratic, has arm talent, undisciplined. Needs coaching. Zero refinement

Webb - Same coaching staff as Goff but not as good.

Watson - weak arm, reminds him of Alex Smith. Can't make all the throws.

Trubisky - only 13 games, locked leg, not pro ready

Peterman - intriguing prospect. best fundamentals of all QBs. Next Andy Dalton.

I respect everyone's opinions but I genuinely don't understand why anyone would hate Watson. I mean the dude balled out against the best defense in college football on the biggest stage two years in a row. Trust your eyes.

Don't want anyone else before the third round and none of them are likely to be there at the back when we pick so why bother ranking them?

Honesty there only 3 QBs I take a chance on

In no order

Mahomes, Kizer, Watson

Mahomes raw talent is worth the risk

Kizer tremendous ability wondering bout taking less talented team to greatness seemed to fail at that at Norte Dame.

Can't believe this but me and pest are on the same page with one exception. I see RG3 with Watson too, but the leadership intangibles I never saw in RG3. I remember when he came out that was the one thing I thought was missing.

I pass on all the others I don't feel good bout drafting any of them I could be wrong, but I'm not confident in any of the future star ability.

I've always loved Watson but I'm starting to lean with Mahomes if Dorsey and Reid sign off.
