That's what I thought. I couldn't tell if he crossed home first or not at the time, and they didn't show the replay until after the commercial break.

On the replay, you can see Butera with the fist pump (indicating the out at first) before the runner crossed the plate.

Yeah, that's the one I saw, which I came to a conclusion that the run didn't cross. Plus another poster said it as well.

One way or another, it is a huge play. Kudos to Rusty and Boni and Hosmer.

I believe if the third out is a force out then it doesn't matter if the runner crosses the plate first.

That wasn't technically a force out though. If the runner would have touched home before the out was recorded at first, the run would have counted.

It was a force out at first since he didn't tag up. If he tags and is thrown out at second that's not a force out and the run counts.
