I just don't really understand the Spiller strategy. If he might be back, why'd we cut him in the first place? Are we just trying to hide someone for a few days or something?

I don't either. It seems that they are putting the cart before the horse. Why not keep him until you need to, and how can you guarantee his availability in the future?

If you sign him back to the roster after the first week, his money is not guaranteed.

RBs are a dime a dozen, so there is little to no risk.

Wouldn't this create a "Restricted Free Agent" type of scenario, though? Where we could potentially have to outbid another team for his services? I guess the guarantee is the hitch, and they feel it is worth the risk.

It seems they have someone else in mind, and Spiller is the fall back.
