Hosmer is literally one of the best 1B in the game. I still think DM can sign him. If Hos re signs you can start building the statue outside of Kauffman immediately

He is not any of those things. In 400 more games since he came up, he has the same WAR as Mark Teixeira, who retired after 2016. Hell, he has barely half the WAR of Brandon Belt in 230 more games.

Hosmer was a different player this year. In past years he was always very streaky. This year he was much more consistent. If he plays like he did this year, he'll be worth the contract regardless of his past advanced metrics.

Now if that was just a contract year performance, it's a different story.
