Now that the internet exists if you’re still dealing with shady dealers it is your fault. Local is anywhere it can be shipped, and options like Carvana give you a completely different experience.

Though I don't sell cars any more, I moved into an upper management position with a dealership group a few years ago.

Also my advice when buying a car to avoid this situation.. Read everything you sign. 98 times out of 100 the dealer is 100% covered by what you signed, so you can be sure they know what you are signing, its best that you do too.

After nearly 17 years in this business, my eyes are already pretty open. I have seen or heard about anything you can imagine.

I did read where Burt said 'most' salesman are bad. I highly disagree. Most salespeople are good, regular people, you just have a couple bad apples that get the most attention.

That being said, whether you are selling cars, or buying cars, remember the golden rule.

Well if lazy, inept, inexperienced, unaware counts as bad you are right.

I guess I see bad as people who are looking to **** someone, dishonest people who get pleasure out of it. Those are much fewer.. and usually they produce, so they keep getting chances when they get busted or **** up.

I'd say 50/50 split. I think there are a lot of fine people that get pressured into doing shitty things by shitty management/ownership.

I am sure he has mellowed over the years. One of the more interesting people from my past. I think I met him at Morse Chevy during his Porsche distruction era, Maybe a couple of dealers back. One of the best "used car guys" I ever met.

I wonder what a day is like as a Dick Smith Ford sales person under Tolbert.....
