Box safeties are the Running back of the defense.

This is what I mean by 'you don't know what you're talking about'.

You equate SS as simply a 'box run defender'.

That's not a reality in the modern NFL. Landon Collins is NOT Daniel Sorensen.

He's not a 'good player', he's a GREAT PLAYER. A PLAYMAKER. In all aspects of the game. He covers TE's and backs in the passing game. He's an excellent run defender, yes, but to try to say that's all is DUMB. He's also an excellent blitzer. You keep indicating that he's just a force as a run stopper. That's an ignorant take. Ignorant in the true sense of the word; not as a slur. You don't know what you're talking about.

He's a 3 time ALL PRO at 25 years old. HE IS A PLAYMAKER. There are NOT guys like that in every draft. He's a special player, like Earl Thomas is. Like Berry WAS. He literally plays the position Berry has played most of his career snaps. So all the things you've seen Berry do-yeah, that's what Collins does.

If you sign Collins and re-unite him with Spags and then draft an Adderley you are set at Safety for the next 5 years. That is HUGE.

Again, there's nothing in his past to suggest that he can put together two great seasons back to back. He's always been a "one on, one off" kind of guy. You're basically betting the 2019 season he can do something he hasn't done before.

I'm not taking that bet, sorry.
Sure, but that also doesn't mean he can't do it.

Whatever they do, they're gonna have to take some risks. The defensive build just didn't really time up with the QB. It sucks, but it's a suck that every other team in the league would take.

If you can get a premium pick for him, take it and see what you can do. But theres a scenario where it blows up and we have another season of what ifs. ;

I've seen Ford and waht he can do and if they feel his back injury has been taken care of, i'm not as worried about the other stuff.

It seems to be more of a "he doesn't fit the scheme and what we are gonna ask him to do so lets trade him" which is what it is. I'm not a fan of it, because you've gotta have talented players.

But either way, they need to take some chances

He's an excellent run defender. He's good covering TE's and backs. He's not shown to this point he's elite in that area, nor has he shown to be consistently elite playing deep.

You're gonna have to make him the highest paid safety in the NFL to get him to KC.

Stop being a fanboy.

I’m with htismaq on this one.

Yes, the Chiefs would need to reinvest if they cut/trade Houston and trade Ford. But I’d be happy taking those savings and using them on different defensive players.

Trey Flowers would be a huge upgrade for me over Ford. Not only is he much better all-around player, he’s also a savvy, smart player.

If the Chiefs can add 1-2 picks in the top 90 for Ford, when combined with the cap savings, it’s a win to me.

Exactly. And You KNOW he's headed to the bench in 2019. You can feel it in your plums. It's time.

Andy brought a serious change to the offensive side of the ball and to the culture overall, but now we're shoring up the other half. This is what a franchise that is done ****ing around looks like.

Feels great.

It's definitely exciting if it all goes down.

I think the defense is ready for a new beginning

No you won't. (have to make him the highest paid safety)

And, like Flowers (playing for Daly) he has played for Spags. Young, excellent players in key spots that already know he scheme. That's a smart thing to do.

What?!? The All Pro safeties in 2017 were as follows; Kevin Byard, Tennessee Titans. Harrison Smith, Minnesota Vikings. Earl Thomas, Seattle Seattle. Micah Hyde, Buffalo Bills.

Where are you doing your research?
