This is why I like the idea of getting guys who want to come in here with something to prove. Houston and Berry have gotten fat. They've gotten their money and you can see them resting comfortably on their laurels. Dee Ford will do the same thing if you extend him.

A culture change needs to occur and I think we'd be better off if these guys weren't part of it.

1) Is Ford football smart enough to take to the new brand of coaching?
2) I think the estimates of what Flowers will get in FA are overblown. I bet he can be signed for 12-13m per.
3) If they don’t cut Berry, they better be right. He can be replaced this offseason with a player that could come in and impact the defense immediately.
4) they need to get something for Houston...but if we can swap Houston’s cap $ for Flowers that’s a good swap...but I’d like to see Veach package Houston and a pick for a better pick.

Where does Flowers fit in though is the question? I feel like he and Speaks would both be ideal strong side DEs at the 5T.

Did we not spend 2 second rounders on Speaks and Kpass? Why, if they never get a shot. I certainly think we should get some help but not pay another high price.

We don't know if Ford is a contract year phenom.
We don't know if Ford can stay healthy
We don't know if Ford will fit our new scheme(Probably doesn't)

Just too many question marks to give Ford a big contract after just ****ing up with Houston and Berry. I think we cans assume that the Chiefs have already tried to get Houston and/or Berry to take pay cuts. They have also already tried to sign Ford on the cheap.

The cap situation is killing us.

Nah i get it. You want JAGS. I want playmakers. You're worried a playmaker might get hurt and cost us money. You want average guys who dont cost much. I want difference makers.

Yes, the Chiefs would need to reinvest if they cut/trade Houston and trade Ford. But I’d be happy taking those savings and using them on different defensive players.

Trey Flowers would be a huge upgrade for me over Ford. Not only is he much better all-around player, he’s also a savvy, smart player.

If the Chiefs can add 1-2 picks in the top 90 for Ford, when combined with the cap savings, it’s a win to me.

You realize you're going to have to pay him what we're paying Ford? And he's never even sniffed Ford's production.
