NFL Proposing Incentives to Teams for Minority HC hires, etc.

This may get moved to DC soon, but here goes:

https://bleacherreport.com/articles/...ey-rule-tweaks

In an attempt to encourage teams to hire minority coaches, the NFL intends to present multiple resolutions to owners during the annual league meetings next week.

Per NFL.com's Jim Trotter, the resolutions that are expected to be voted on include removing an anti-tampering barrier that allows teams to block assistant coaches from interviewing for coordinator positions and an incentive program that will reward clubs for hiring minority candidates as head coaches or executive-level positions in the football operations department.

Under the incentive proposal, teams would receive a boost in their third-round draft pick if they hire a minority as head coach or primary football executive and keep him or her employed for multiple years.

Not even sure what to say about this . . . . . .

If you will win games, that is incentive enough.

NFL and it’s owners would hire an Alligator as a HC if it meant playoff wins and Super Bowls.

The fact this is even proposed is lame.

and then, when minority coach is hired, the ultimately fired,...then it’ll be......you guessed it. Racist.

They actually coached the 2 worst seasons in franchise history, and it's not even close.

This is absolute bullshit. They're making racism more racist. "Hey we know you don't wanna hire this black guy but if you bite the bullet will throw in an extra 3rd round pick. If I'm black, I feel discriminated over this. What a joke

Gratz v. Bollinger (2003)

Likely unconstitutional under the 14th amendment's equal protection clause. While Michigan utilized a racial point based system for entry to "diversify" it's student body it essentially penalized people for not being a minority. The Supreme Court struck it down.

The NFL is essentially punishing teams by pushing them further down in the draft for having a white HC/GM with this proposal.

Then again, I'm not a lawyer but I hate affirmative action because it becomes less about the persons qualities and more about the persons skin color.

Good ****ing lord these old ass white dudes are trying so hard to not be called racists that they are gonna enact some dumb ****ing racist rule. So since a team has a coach like Reid, Belichick, or Payton they will be punished because they have a good coach just because they are white?

A bunch of teams openly said Bieniemy's chances were hurt because they needed to make their decisions ASAP after the season ended. Bieniemy was clearly punished because the Chiefs made a deep run.

Maybe they league should look to fix that first.

Yeah, but that's a bunch of excuses. Deep playoff runs sure haven't stopped the league from hiring 37 failed Patriots assistants.

Poor Eric Bienemy and his championship ring couldn’t get a head coaching job.

Maybe he didn’t get a HC job because....teams didn’t think he would be a good head coach.

Funny world we live in, it's.....what difference does race make. Then a black guy becomes the first black guy to do anything and we need to be told that, why....if race doesn't matter?

Doug Williams will always be ....the first black QB to win a SB.....why is this news if race doesn't matter? When Frances Christophe LeMaitre ran the first sub10.00 100m by a white sprinter, it was huge news.....why? Yes race does matter so why play silly ass games like.....you are racist....that is racist? How about simply keeping things real, nothing wrong with dealing with reality.

There is talk about how with a sport where 70% of the athletes are black it only makes sense to have as many black coachs as ya can. Hell yes they will relate better with the black players, simply common sense. They have black sons, something white coachs don't have.

I know, I know, I must be a racist because I'm not blind and can see how things really are.

Movies about Jackie Robinson, Ernie Davis, Gramblings first white QB, Richmond Flowers one fast white guy.......but race doesn't matter.
