QB (2) P. Mahomes, C. Henne

Burton TE (4) T. Kelce, B. Bell, N. Grey, J. Fortson WR (6) T. Hill, M. Hardman, D. Robinson, B. Pringle, D. Fountain, M. Kemp ST (3) P T. Townsend, K H. Butker, LS J. Winchester DE (6) F. Clark, C. Baker, R. Fenton S (4) T. Mathieu, J. Thornhill, D. Sorensen, A. Watts PUP: OL K. Long NFI: DE M. Herring CUTS (PS Underlined): QB S. Buechele, RB D. Gore, WR C. Powell, WR G. Dieter, WR M. Ffrench, WR D. Schoen, WR D. Shepherd, OT P. Tega Wanogho, OG Y. Durant, OG A. Blythe, OT W. Miller, OC D. Williams, DE A. Okafor, DT T. Clark, LB D. O'Daniel, LB R. Cole, CB B. Keyes, CB C. Lammons, CB D. Bootle, CB Z. Anderson, S D. Key, S R. Clemons, S M. Character Notes: It's not generally a Reid practice to carry 10+ OL and I'm not sure he does it now. I think the Chiefs will make a choice between keeping Blythe or LDT and then put whomever they do on IR on Sept 1 and bring up Durant from the PS (pending waivers). Blythe has a bit more flexibility but I think LDT is the better player, plus he's been in the system and has guaranteed money. I have the Chiefs rolling with 5 RBs but it's more of an early season protection than the ideal. I think it's a foregone conclusion that Forston has made this team. Grey has enough updside he probably doesn't get cut. That leaves Bell as the big decision, and I just feel like he's a better blocker than anyone else. I think Reid rolls with 4 TEs and develops sets that use them more. Fountain, in my opinion, is a lock to make this roster. I think, if anyone is more on the bubble, it's Kemp. To me, it comes down to Kemp vs Powell and whether or not they feel comfortable letting Powell hit waivers. Ideal world is Kemp makes the roster for STs and Powell spends the year on the PS learning. I could see the Chiefs waiving Kemp though. Alot of the online guys have the Chiefs choosing between Ward and Harris at DE and keeping Okafor. I don't know that I'd do that. I'd rather keep the upside of both and let Okafor walk, and honestly I think they've played that way in pre-season. At LB I really think it comes down to O'Daniel vs Cobb vs Cole. We all know the only thing O'Daniel offers is STs value in all 4 phases. Cobb, to me, is the best choice though in terms of upside and physical ability. He can learn to be a better special teams player. Meanwhile, I think Cole is the guy to stash on the PS and see if he can learn and help supplant Niemann in 2022. I have CB/S as being the positional area the Chiefs really have to play the numbers game. I feel best about 9 I have listed. I like Keyes and Lammons as guys that would be a #6. Bootle hasn't been terrible either. I don't think all of them will get claimed, if any, so you take your chances and should be able to stash at least a couple. Key showed some promise but he's not a roster-ready guy for anyone so I doubt he gets poached. |

Blythe had that hernia surgery so who knows for sure when he'll be back and have the core strength. I think LDT is a bit more known with a broken hand and healing time. It's a tough call. LDT has been a solid starter here and has a guaranteed salary whereas Blythe doesn't. Keeping 4 LBs is a dangerous proposition. I wouldn't worry much about if Tyrann isn't renewed. A guy like Key will see the field as much on the 53 as he would on the PS, which is zero. The decision on a 5th safety, 6th CB, or 5th LB in whatever combination likely comes down most to STs value which is why I could see O'Daniel making it again, even though I like Cobb more as a player. I think it's a reason BoPete could make it too. Tough choices on that front this year but I think it has nothing to do with Tyrann's future. |

Let's get real. It really doesn't matter who the #4-6 WRs are, they're not going to get that many targets. They're ST guys that can catch the ball on occasion. As long as the Pringles and Kemps are on the roster, we'll be stuck with the DRobs of the world or overpay for an underachieving #2-3, ala Watkins. We need new blood in that crowd. |
