Thanks for your ridiculous strawman.

Now we know: she wasn’t on a “Coke bender”

Becasue everyone thought that!

I wish she would have just died on impact. It's actually crazy to think that she didn't.

Would it change anything? Absolutely not. Is it any of my business? Absolutely not. Hell I'm probably better off not knowing because it's tragic enough as it is. But none of that stopped my mind from going there.

If my sister passed this way, I’d be in grief and then enraged at the culprit

But I’d definitely drift towards asking why she was there. Was it normal for her to drive at 3am with her dog? Was it a one time thing? Because if it’s something she normally does it takes a bit of “sting” out of it.

If it was a one time random event, that would make me angry at fate

Seems irresponsible for an auto manufacturer to be able to make a product that is basically a race car and not require the driver to have some sort of training before purchasing. Given the computer controls on everything, it should be possible to disable idiot driving mode in a populated area and allow race car driving in the proper environment.

This is a terrible tragedy for the victim and with the low bail set on Ruggs, I expect him to disappear. It's irresponsible of our legal system to let someone like that back out into society. Two different justice systems; those who have money and those who don't.

Cars like these are delivered in idiot mode. They have all kinds of tractions control, ABS, electronic braking assist, steering assist and even electronic variable coil over systems.

Now, he has the option to turn all that shit off. But the car comes in idiot mode.

maybe it should be mandatory that every car now needs a device that you have to blow in before starting.

Sure if you are willing to pay the extra cost. Those devices are expensive. And car prices today are already high enough.

It's really an incredible car - I'm just impressed as hell by what GM was able to do with it and still maintain a fairly attainable price point on it.
Too bad it doesnt do well in the snow and too bad I cant afford it

Also you guys talking about how fast he was going which was reeruned fast, and trying to compare it to their 1976 Camaro.

A friend of mine had a new 2017 Z06 Corvette that I drove and rode in many times. I actually posted pics of it in the Gearhead Thread years ago.

145MPH felt like about 90MPH in that car, no joke. Incredibly fast and incredibly easy to get there.

I've got an old 1965 Chevy II with all upgraded suspension etc...that I have had up to 130MPH and it felt like it was going 2x the speed of that Vette at 145.

Not in any way defending Ruggs just pointing out its insane how fast and smooth those cars are and I'm assuming the 2021 is the best yet when it comes to handling.

(I sound a bit like BRC here I know)

It would also unduly burden the millions of people who don't drive drunk. Hell, at this point in my life the amount of alcohol I drink in a year could fit in a gallon jug with room left over. I haven't driven drunk in decades. Why the **** should I have to blow in a tube to start my car?

You can't punish or blame everybody for the crimes of a few.
