Raiders' Henry Ruggs in fatal accident - will be charged with DUI resulting in death

Update: Not a rumor, actually happened. Story developing.

Per TMZ: 10:27 AM PT -- A source close to Ruggs tells us the NFL'er is expected to be OK. The condition of the other people involved in the crash is still unclear.

10:40 AM PT -- A law enforcement source tells us at least one person involved in the crash has died. Ruggs' attorney, David Chesnoff, tells TMZ Sports, "On behalf of our client Henry Ruggs III we are conducting our own investigation as of this writing and ask everyone to reserve judgment until all the facts are gathered."

Update: TMZ has the story:

That's way worse than his other option of being rich and famous and having a good driving record.

Up to 34k now, seems like a lot of Raiders fans donating.

How stupid do you have to be to hash tag Raider Nation with your donation? The last thing those people want to be reminded of is the shitbag that killed her and her dog.

Like, good on Raider fans for donating but just leave a thought or prayer, and leave your ****ing shitbag team out of it.

Yeah he could have really been ****ed if he spent $50 on an Uber. Can’t imagine how he ever would’ve recovered from that.

In 60 years, this will all be over. You’d never get that $50 back.

When he hit the brakes and went from 156 mph to 127 mph upon impact. It reads when he hit the brakes the car started sliding and slid into the RAV4. Wouldn’t the car have a braking system even if you slammed on the brakes would you would still be able to steer the car? ABS?

ABS is designed to keep you from sliding around on the ice at like 25 mph. Don't think they would help much at 156.

Eh, I don't see an issue with that. Raider fans want to make it clear that they support the family of the victim, not Henry Ruggs. Probably is a big motivator for a lot more donations. They're up over $40K already so would guess the family is cool with it as well.

You would be 100% wrong about that. On R/Raiders, they were discussing trying to get one of these going from the moment it was clear Ruggs had killed someone.

22 years? For killing a person? I can't imagine how that'd be considered "too much."

I very much dislike the idea of stacking charges and pleas and all of that. I know someone who got some charges here a while back and it's like 8 separate charges... and apparently the county is known for doing that, I'm sure because some or most get dropped with a plea. I assume in the past they would charge someone with 1 or 2 and they would get dropped into lower level misdemeanors or whatever, so now if you have 10 ****ing charges, a plea of 2 or 3 looks amazing...... and each has a huge sliding scale of severity and being able to knock time off, etc. Very flexible for the infinite number of different situations, but also seems like there are far simpler ways to deal with the vast majority.

Anyway.... I don't know the "right" answer for number of years. I can definitely see the argument for 20 years being a really damn long time, he'd get out in his 40s or whatever and his career would obviously be far, far in the rear view mirror. Going in at 20whatever and getting out at 40+.... that's a long ****ing time.

OTOH.... play stupid games, win stupid prizes.

Saw that, too... figure it's either "fan guilt/embarrassment" from weirdo types who say they get embarrassed when the team they root for loses or does something stupid, or the completely obvious sentiment that the vast majority of fans aren't going to excuse away his actions and don't condone it.

Either way, completely pointless to make it about themselves and their team.

Yes, you can still steer at any speed after stomping in the brakes. He slid because he’s a drunk shitty driver, not the cars fault.

Almost at $57k now. I'm not offended at whatever folks may or may not say. The donation is an act of kindness regardless.
