Trade Deadline

With their now being that extra WC spot and everyone being bunched up, there's gonna be alot of executives deluding themselves into thinking they have a shot.

Even with that said, I've never understood why more teams don't sell. Take the Raiders for instance and Josh Jacobs. He's clearly going elsewhere this offseason, so they probably think they could get a 3rd round comp pick. If the Saints beat them this weekend, why wouldn't you try to move him?

The Saints should trade anything that's not bolted down at this point, but I digress.

I know teams don't like to shit on their fanbase and sell because of tickets and blah blah blah.

Why dont' more teams sell though?

Sure, they definitely needed some things they didn't get. I just feel so much more confident about this teams ability to win the whole thing than I ever would have 5 years ago.

Pass rush and OT are positions of need and they drafted exactly 1 each. I wish they would have gotten Sam Williams or any other speed rusher but in the end if they have 15 they are contenders.

I actually had to think for a second who the OT was. That hype train seems like it was 3 years ago.

The longer a guy goes without playing football, the longer it takes to get him up to speed, the lower his ceiling is and the greater his chance of pretty immediate injury are.

Were they good at it last playoffs? I am pretty sure we made it to yet another AFCCG. It wasn’t the defense that cost us that game. As a matter of fact we have not had an elite pass rusher or line for the last four years and we did pretty well.

It's surprising to see Fenton moved. They must be pretty confident their CB room is going to be healthy, starting this week. And have some FA they're really after. I can't see it being Beckham at this point. Maybe Sheldon Richardson or Linval Joseph?

I think for a rebuilding year they’ve done quite well. They might even beat the Bills in Buffalo.

As I've said before, Mahomes collapse was the biggest reason.

But for all the times Mahomes has pulled his teammates from the fire, it sure would've been nice if they could've FINALLY returned the favor.

The defense had it on their racket with a team they knew was going to throw the football. Instead, after being staked to a 21-3 with barely over a half of football left to play, they gave up 24 points.

The offense should've made it a moot point but it is a team game. And the DL completely no-showed that game. As badly as any game I've seen this side of the 2018 AFCCG. I was assured that Frank "Culture Change" Clark was going to prevent that. He didn't.

Now we're gonna go into ANOTHER season with him as our primary edge rusher?

Neat.

I'll believe it when I see it.

He said he was gonna do that LAST year and decided that a 3rd safety was more important than a complementary pass rusher.

I get it, but using the Rams strategy is a foolish one. Clark was very good in Seattle before we got him. Giving up the farm for Burns or Allen in the hopes they aren’t Clark v.2 is silly also. I get there were others out there that could have been potentially brought in but they might not have wanted to come (Hughes) or weren’t available. KC can’t go full Rams as that strategy almost failed them last year and they are paying for it right now. They need to be smart about it and not make unwise decisions in haste.

You see how terrible our secondary was last year? It was a catastrophe. Bills game alone should of alerted people to how god awful it was.

Or Sorenson getting embarrassed every week, Matheiu quitting, Mike Hughes getting dog walked seemingly every week or Rashad Fenton sticking out like a sore thumb. Also Charvarius Ward leaving.

Spags knew he had limited resources to build the defense back and hedged his bets on the secondary with designed blitzes. Watching the Bills game showed that that worked. No more DB’s getting beat by 10 yards to wide open receivers.

The Tyreek Hill saga was an element for them too. Nate Taylor confirmed we went after Z’Darius Smith but did not offer him a contract bc they thought it would disrespect Tyreek not getting a deal. He was traded a day after Smith signed with Minnesota.

Lot of problems had to be corrected as well as planning to help mitigate Tyreek departure (hello Skyy Moore).

But yes I do believe DL will be the top priority this Spring

At this point we just need bodies and just try to get whatever you can get from them. There's no savior coming until at least March for the DL.
