Trade Deadline

With their now being that extra WC spot and everyone being bunched up, there's gonna be alot of executives deluding themselves into thinking they have a shot.

Even with that said, I've never understood why more teams don't sell. Take the Raiders for instance and Josh Jacobs. He's clearly going elsewhere this offseason, so they probably think they could get a 3rd round comp pick. If the Saints beat them this weekend, why wouldn't you try to move him?

The Saints should trade anything that's not bolted down at this point, but I digress.

I know teams don't like to shit on their fanbase and sell because of tickets and blah blah blah.

Why dont' more teams sell though?

Spags knew he had limited resources to build the defense back and hedged his bets on the secondary with designed blitzes. Watching the Bills game showed that that worked. No more DB’s getting beat by 10 yards to wide open receivers.

The Tyreek Hill saga was an element for them too. Nate Taylor confirmed we went after Z’Darius Smith but did not offer him a contract bc they thought it would disrespect Tyreek not getting a deal. He was traded a day after Smith signed with Minnesota.

Lot of problems had to be corrected as well as planning to help mitigate Tyreek departure (hello Skyy Moore).

But yes I do believe DL will be the top priority this Spring
The secondary wasn't worse than the DL was. And I had no objection to McDuffie. But to the extent safety was a problem, that problem is in NOLA now. And saying there was some brilliant plant for Watson is awfully disingenuous - he was a happy accident.

I just think he got tunnel vision with that Cook pick. Oh, and drafted the wrong guy with the Williams pick but I'm just piling on now.

I fully agree with you about the Bengals game being a testament to how bad the DL was. I think the Bills game was a testament to how bad the secondary was

Look how many times he has wide open receivers to throw to? These were just layups that are inexcusable.

Add that to losing Ward and Sorenson/Matheiu’s decline and you’ll see why they drafted so many corners, 2 safeties and signed a safety in FA.

That was…William Bartee old days kinda terrible. I can’t even watch it

I think there may be some people on CP who think Veach doesn't make mistakes or make sub-optimal decisions. Fair enough I guess, a lot of this stuff plays out over years. But I've really no idea how people look at the DL and think "good job" or even that a focus on the secondary excuses it.

Yeah they think they have enough to win it this year, and I don’t think they’re wrong. I don’t think we showed Buffalo much of the playbook and this team is just getting better.

C’mon man, clearly htis is breaking a hippa violation away from telling us all of his doctoral insight on why Suh is still sitting on a couch. Clearly htis is dialed into Suh’s situation better than anyone. He’s probably broken and frail

The offense should've made it a moot point but it is a team game. And the DL completely no-showed that game. As badly as any game I've seen this side of the 2018 AFCCG. I was assured that Frank "Culture Change" Clark was going to prevent that. He didn't.

Now we're gonna go into ANOTHER season with him as our primary edge rusher?

Neat.
Not only that but as usual with our shit DL, they were matched up with a team who had given up an insane amount of sacks. Not just the week before, but the whole season. Yet there was our shitty DL not getting any pressure on their bad OL or quarterback. Just like they always do. Every time we play a OL we should easily feast on, it becomes famine instead. Every damn time. Maybe Cullen gets it turned around, but he hasn’t yet.

Exactly.

I love Brett Veach but he said he was going to fix the D-line 6 months ago and didn't. He got a filler piece in Dunlap, one 1st round pick, and then committed even MORE dollars to Frank Clark.

Spags chose a good secondary and blitzing and it seems to be working. Saw this on Twitter.

#Chiefs defensive ranks:

QB knockdown %: 5th (10.7%)
QB hurry %: 6th (9.1%)
QB pressure %: 2nd (24.8%)

Look past the sacks for a bit.

#ChiefsKingdom*

If you have good boundary corners and a sticky guy like McDuffie it makes it harder to score. Patriots blitzed and used strong coverage over pass rush the last few years when Tom was there.
