The Bengals improved more because they added a player that the Chiefs cut?

CIN lost two of their top players on defense and marginally upgraded at tackle. KC arguably upgraded at LT, S, and DE, and added a quality LB.

I think the real question is whether with what happened Cincinnati is more improved or Kansas City is more improved on the offence of line. They both have additional work to do for their right tackle. It’s unclear what Kansas City will do. Cincinnati in the end they will probably have Williams at right tackle, and he is likely to be satisfactory.

My view is that there is more uncertainty in the Kansas City situation[how will Taylor adjust to left tackle and who will be the right tackle and will he come from the draft] then in the Cincinnati situation where Brown will definitely be an upgrade and probably even pretty good, although not elite, and the same will apply for Williams and right tackle.

so I think comparatively speaking [ is all that really matters ] Cincinnati will have improve themselves more than Kansas City. And although we won the championship game over the Bengals, the margin was razor thin, and really came down to that stupid play. Their guy made when he roughed Mahomes out of bounds.

I like both teams actually. [I am from Ottawa Canada] but I do cheer for the Chiefs.

Given the contract Brown signed for with the Bengals I don’t understand why the Chiefs couldn’t have signed both brown and Taylor.

Anyway, let’s see what other people think and I hope this hasn’t been covered before.

Do you know any Canadian Bengals fans? Do they put Skyline Chili on their poutine?

Adding a more athletic left tackle - the offense of lineman they signed from the Jags - and choosing from Lucas Niang, an offense of lineman who was hurt last season, and Darian Kinnard, an offense of lineman they drafted last year, and anyone they pick up in the draft this year should put them in a good spot, YOU HOSER! (just kidding, I was eating back bacon dipped in maple syrup and couldn't resist!)

Now take off, eh?
Definitely agree that the Chiefs offensive line is still better than the bangles. All I’m saying is that I think the Bengals have improved more than the Chiefs at least at the offensive line. And given the razor thin margin between the two teams, relative improvement is, what is important. Someone else suggested, the Bengals have regressed at safety [which they certainly have] and the Chiefs have improved. [I really don’t think so]. They also suggested the Chiefs improved at linebacker and defensive end. [Hopefully, but we need to wait and see.] and looking at both teams overall Kansas City Chiefs roster a key question is whether SKYY Moore or Kadarius Tooney improve so they’re wide receivers are no longer a mash unit.

Several others posted with friendly comments about Canada. I think they were friendly. Anyway I think you for those, eh.

Chiefs fans arguing for a lot of the above are reaching.

But the reality is it doesn't matter. We can more realistically discuss which team improved itself to a greater degree at the beginning of training camp. Nothing at this stage matters.

This time last year we were discussing Deandre Baker and Rashad Fenton as our possible starters. The offseason is just warming up.

Not to mention that even in May post-draft with McDuffie/Williams/Watson we thought Lonnie Johnson would be a real contributor only to not even make it out of training camp.

We also need to wait and see how big of an improvement Brown will be to that OL. Mahomes is a lot craftier at avoiding pressure than Burrow.

I'm pretty sure that about everyone outside of PFF considers Edwards a more talented player than Thornhill (or at worst a wash).

When it comes to improving, the Chiefs used a **** ton of rookies last year, and most of them exceeded expectations. They will likely continue to get better.

Anyway, let’s see what other people think and I hope this hasn’t been covered before.
Oh wow. Lots to unpack here.

1. With our GM, HC, and QB I am not too worried about the tackle spots. Did Cincy improve on the line? Who knows. What I and other Chiefs fans know is that Brown Jr. routinely gets beat by speed rushers. KC was able to overcome that due to scheme and a mobile QB who could move and avoid a lot of sacks.

2. Brown Jr and Wylie led the league in pressures for a LT and RT. Brown Jr. lacks and will continue to lack the needed athleticism to be a LT. Wylie just isn't very good. Don't let the SB fool you into thinking those two are even close to elite. Taylor is athletic enough to play LT. He just lacks the experience, but I have full faith in the coaching staff to get the best out of him. The worst case scenario is that he is no better than Brown Jr, and we move on from his contract sooner than had we signed Brown Jr.

3. Every game against Cincinnati has been close. One play has essentially given them the win over KC and adding Brown Jr won't make them suddenly a powerhouse that overwhelms KC.

4. KC didn't sign Brown Jr because they offered him a nice contract last year and he rejected it. They franchised him and he played on the tag. They tried again and Brown Jr either did not budge on his initial demand or wanted more. Veach told him to pound sand. He did and realized that the market agreed that he was not worth what he wanted and he took the best offer which was Cincinnati. They structured it in a way that made him feel good without crippling them. He never would have come back, tail between his legs and signed a deal like that with KC. Too much pride involved.

5. KC won the SB last year with JAGS at WR and seven rookies with significant playing time. Those are all coming back and will be better. KC has yet to lose anyone significant in FA. They have the best HC, QB, and GM in football. They will continue to get better while Cincinnati will have to start making business decisions on some players as rookie deal Burrow and rookie deal Chase won't be cheap for much longer.

This,

Were our DB's great? Hell no, but they passed the good enough smell test.

I'm very excited because I think McDuffy has a chance at being a lock down, and Watson/William have a chance at really developing into good to great DB's.

I'm also very excited to see Cook develop, I think he has real potential.

If they improve our defense can start creeping back into the top 10. If we do that, Mahome is going to go on a ****ing run.

Chenal looks like he just might become the beast we hoped he would as well. He has all the physical ability in the world.

Not to mention Pacheco being RB1 in week one, as opposed to being a backup for half a season.

The Chiefs are already better than they were after winning the Super Bowl, and we haven't even had the draft yet.
