Ironically I never see any connecting flights through MCI.

Denver, Dallas, Phoenix, Chicago, Charlotte, Atlanta but NEVER Kansas City.

So if I understand this correctly, it is third out 28 other 'large' airports. Which is good, but it is a completely brand new airport being compared to mostly much older airports.

Yes, the new airport seems nice from the handful of times I've used it. For a brand new airport that was built with future additional gate capacity as a possibility (if I understand correctly), I would have liked to see more/better arrival curb capacity as that seems the weakest spot.

Never waited more than 10 minutes in TSA line. Food was pretty good. I always park off site and the shuttle picks us up and straight to the car.

I've actually seen a Southwest itinerary here and there that connects through MCI. Their network is weird though. They have some major hubs, but they're open to using just about anywhere as a connection point. (I once connected through STL on Southwest as well.)
