Armour lard may actually be healthier for you and doesn't carry that distinctive smell. |

Furthermore, do you know fully what is in those mass produced taco shells? They could very well be "heart healthy" and still be poison. Speaking of that - you know that exposing grape seed oil to high heat, like frying, is bad right? It's edible but it's not suitable for high heat cooking. |

You are right, the cholesterol thing is an obsession with them. My latest was 140 total. I had no idea grape seed oil was not suitable for high heat cooking. Will go back to Olive oil, thanks! ![]() Learned a lot in this thread including "Travesty" is not a synonym for tragedy like I always thought it was. ![]() |

The thing about grape seed oil is it's really great uncooked, like as a salad dressing. I sometimes use it with BBQ under low heat. It just doesn't survive the high heat and can possibly be toxic. |

Mostly because I quit listening to my doctor. I ate healthier. And I still hit the local pizza buffet about once a week. I'm not some diet slave. Fat is good for you, not bad. Artificial fillers, preservatives, and processed garbage is garbage. High sugar is horrible for you. Alcohol, in large amounts, is horrible for you. You are less likely to get cancer if you smoke regularly than drink regularly and I was as big a drinker as anyone can be. I enjoyed my boos but I'm healthier now at 50 than I was at 30.

Now, the wet behind the ears doc calls a couple of days ago talking I got the Wilfred Brimley. Starts talking medications and I'm like wait wait wait. First send me some shit about how to adjust my diet and shit before I start singing the lower A1C jingle. Jesus I swear that's all they do anymore is become pill pushers. I've also wanted to switch primary doctors. This is a good opportunity.

Right. I only suggested lard because we are talking about frying tortillas, and lard has given me the best results for that over the years. I don't even have any in the house right now. I use olive oil. |
