I’ve recently taken an interest in learning how to differentiate between those different East Asian ethnicities/nationalities and I’m finding it pretty difficult. I feel like I’m pretty good at identifying Koreans. So so on Japanese, Chinese, Thai and Filipinos. Have no clue when it comes to Vietnamese, Laos, etc.

Thai have darker skin than most of the others you named. They're probably the easiest to tell apart. Laos is very similar to Thai though.

That’s true but Filipinos are generally darker as well so it makes it a little tough to differentiate to the untrained eye
