No, those are the spots where you DON'T need armor because those are the spots where the plane got shot to shit and still made it back to base.

The more you shave off the ends in favor of putting wood where the ball is making contact, the more you're taking away from areas where you're already missing a bit. That's going to make you MORE prone to mis-hits on balls that aren't barreled.

Well hell fellas, a barreled ball is gonna go a long way anyway. How much science did you really need to know that?
