DV quote on McCleon

VERMEIL: “I don’t know if there will be any personnel changes. I looked at the tape and you point to Dexter McCleon. I trust him and believe him and know he can play. I know he got tested over and over again and got beat a couple of times. He got beat in the first quarter on a perfectly executed play that I wish we would make ourselves and for a touchdown. That’s not unusual for a Jimmy Smith to do that. It’s a little unusual for a second year quarterback to do it so efficiently. We have to evaluate if it’s a continual pattern or just great execution.”

I don't get it. I understand standing by your players. DV loyalty and all that but....He's been burned so many times...
I just don't think they get it at 1 Arrowhead drive

At least Bartee or Battle (or Sapp) have the potential to get better with PT. Let's face it, Dexter ain't getting any better. Too short and too old.

I would actually like to see them start Sapp over Battle and Bartee. He's the only guy in the secondary besides Wesley, who can blitz. He also seems to tackle well and he made some nice bumps on wr's in the Jax game.

The only game that Gun really got involved in defensively when he was the HC was the Ram game.
I thought that Bar Tee played really well in that game.
He was physical in coverage, and he blitzed really well on a couple of plays.

In Gun's scheme, if he remains aggressive, I really believe that Bar Tee has a chance to become a pretty good corner.

But in the big picture of things, I don't care if they just pick up someone off the street.
Anyone has to be better than McPassOn.

I thought Bartee looked ok in the Rams game as well. However, the only corner Gun ever blitzes is, Sapp, and I think it's because the guy plays so aggressively. Sapp made some nice plays at the line of scrimmage in the Jax game. I think he deserves more playing time.

Bartee has already had his chances, I believe if they put him in at #2 CB, it'll be the same thing we've seen from Bartee throughout his NFL career.

But a player that he has no love for, is one that he will not hesitate to denigrate.

It's obvious that McPassOn is just terrible, but Dick likes him, so in Dick's eyes he's just been beaten a couple of times.

I'll bet McPassOn really loves Dick.
I totally agree.

Guys like Dexter get a free pass, but guys like Johnson get publically humiliated in the media.

IMO, both Bar Tee and Warfield were 'developmentaly disabled', to coin a phrase, by the passive schemes utilized by, first, Maty's little brother, and then by Spinner.

They were drafted because of their physicality, then used in systems that didn't take advantage that said physicality.

We've seen the improvement in Warfield's in Gun's scheme.
Last season it was his head that everyone was calling for.

I think that Bar Tee benefits the same way.

Bartee was sent on blitzes several times. On one particular play Harlan noted (and they replayed) how obvious it was and how easily Leftwich was able to hit the hot receiver.

Several times? I thought he sent him once? Bartee is so horrible at disguising the blitz.
