RIP Ol' Dirty Bastard

I know there will be some people that give a shit like I do, I grew up on Wu-Tang. He passed away in the studio today, 2 days before his 36th birthday. It's not shocking, considering the damage he did to his body, but its sad to me regardless.

There's nothing hardass about it. I just think that career criminals are nothing but a cancer to society. It's magnified by the fact that people actually looked up to this piece of sh*t because of his success. Rather than his talent excusing his actions, I think it just magnifies what a waste of skin he was. At least the common criminal is poor and desperate. He had the talent to rise above the gutter, but instead he chose to continue to exist there aided by his financial prosperity. He wasn't a thug out of neccessity, he was thug by choice.

I'm actually suprised that people think artistic talent is reason enough to excuse repetitive criminal behaviour. Would you want a thug like that in your neighborhood? Maybe he could serenade your kids to sleep with his musical talents, while he sells them drugs and steals from you.

For the record, I don't really object to your point of view, I just don't agree with it. You are certainly not the only person who thinks that career criminals should die, and it's a perfectly respectable opinion -- I just don't agree, that's all.

And for the record, I don't think his music AT ALL excuses the stuff he did. I just think that sometimes you have to seperate the art from the artist (see Dixie Chicks, Mozart, etc, etc.).

I am sorry but this guy was a waste of flesh. I know someone who was backstage ofter one of his concerts. ODB started having a seizure and the way they brought him out of it was with a joint laced with angel dust.

No one is really disagreeing with this. All some of us are saying is:

1. Despite being a huge piece of shit, Wu-Tang music was important and relevant.

2. We aren't happy to see someone die, even in the case that they are a huge piece of shit.

Could I possibly make it any more clear that I think he was a huge piece of shit? I think we are all in agreement here.
