Since the day the schedule came out all I have thought about was Christmas day

I've made it known to all of my family that all I wanted for Christmas was to be at the raiduh game. I was going to go to Kansas City and spend Christmas with my grandparents while my immediate family probably stayed in Texas. Even with the losing season I have still wanted to go to that game.

And part of me still wants to, part of me feels like I am giving up on my team. Truth be told, if I lived closer than thirteen hours away I would probably still try and go (and may yet if my friends have already purchased the tickets), but I am not driving all that way, spending all that money, and be away from my family on Christmas to watch my team play shitty football against my most hated rival. Screw that. It would be one thing if they had a losing record while playing decent ball, I'd still make the trip in that case. But this team is just imploding play after play, drive after drive, quarter after quarter, game after game. They are not playing anything even remotely resembling football, they are sitting out on the field jacking off. Their heads are not in the game, they make error after error..... I just can't take it any more, I have had my fill. I almost felt like crying after watching the game end on a Trent Green sack for the third straight week in a row last night, even though I had resigned myself to the season being over last week, last night was still a bitter pill to swallow. Watching your team play like complete crap on a national stage.....

Anyway, unless my ticket has already been purchased, I'll stay in Texas with my family for Christmas. And I keep telling myself that since they are the only reason I am not going, I am not really walking away from my team during this horrid season. Yet, I still feel a little guilty; perhaps in my subconscience, I have abandoned them....

Eh. Beating the focking Raiders will make up for this horrible season just a wee bit. Hell, maybe we can blow them out. They certainly suck enough.

Send me a pm if you wanna meet up. And yes the 12 to 14 hour drive does suck.

Houston, New Orleans, Carolina (though, who knew at the time), and Tampa Bay have my hopes a little low in regard to that.

Wait a minute, let me get this straight, you are going to be in KC for Christmas, but not attending the game? WTF? If I am in KC I am at that game.

I just have little incentive at this point to be in KC (though I love it there during the holiday season).

I do not miss the snow one little bit, or the cold. I will make myself clearer, my other half is not a chiefs fan at all. I can go to the game if I want but he and my girlfriends who attend games all the time do not want to go. And as he will be playing cards all weekend and drinking he will need me to taxi him around. One of the problems with going back home is you have to stop by and see EVERYBODY you know or they think you hate them so I guess I wouldn't have time. I don't want to go by myself, and if I did what fun would that be,,, my sons are not chiefs fans either so they won't go with me. I will just sit with friends and party and watch the game on tv and hope for a win.

I've only got one more game to go to. The Broncos game. The other 2 games i'll be out of town for, unfortunately.

I don't care if the Chiefs are 13-3 or 3-13..Arrowhead still rules.

Yes, Arrowhead rules. No doubt about that. But on several occasions this season, it has really sucked to come out of there depressed and disgusted about my team's performance.
Jamie, I don't blame you one bit. I'm sick of sitting there and watching crap football being played by the Chiefs. I'm actually relieved that last night was my last game this season. I'm a huge Chiefs fan and have been for the past 14 or so years since I started watching pro football. But I'll be damned if I'm gonna drive even an hour to sit in the cold, pay ridiculous $20 to park, pay ridiculous prices for concessions($6.50 beer), only to watch my Chiefs blow it yet again. I'll still watch them on TV and cheer for them, though.

I really didn't mind the loss. After the Tampa Bay game, its become somewhat comical. Everytime the Chiefs defense gave up a big play, I couldn't help but laugh at them. I still cheered when they made good plays, yelled when the crowd got loud, but I knew for basically the entire game they were going to lose, just like the New Orleans game.

Tip: Develop a low expectation, and don't emotionally invest yourself. I was disgusted and depressed after the first 8 games. Now i'm just apathetic. I could care less if they win or lose. I'll still have fun rooting for them though.

You know, I'm willing to pay the ridiculous prices, I'm willing to make a long drive, I'm willing to sit there and watch them play "football" and embarass me on national tv by losing to the radiers. I am not, however, willing to do that if it means being away from my family on Christmas.

And as previously stated, there could be caveats to this, if I was say 8 hours away instead of 13 or if we were at least playing decent ball and losing because the other teams out played our best efforts. Either of these two situations and this does not get posted today. But the combination of things just leaves me with a stronger desire to be with the family than to be with the team (that's probably the way it should be anyway, eh...).
