Yes it is. Also, there is no real C.W. McCall. McCall started as a character [played by co-creator Bill Fries] in a series of commercials for Old Home Bread Company. He'd drop into the Old Home Cafe and jaw with the waitresses. MGM signed them to write songs based on the persona. Peckinpah directed a movie based on the character of The Rubber Ducky referenced in the Convoy song.

On a side note, I was in Vintage Vinyl last weekend and they had C.W.McCall's Greatest Hits in their bargain bin. Came 'this close' to nabbing it.
