Should I work at Burger King or Arbys?

Currently, I work at the Young Arena. But it's just a weekend job. Granted, it's not bad for just a weekend job (5 hours a night, 5.15 an hour), but I want more, especially with a European trip in the near future.

I never imagined myself working at some shitty fastfood place, but who the hell am I kidding. I'm 17 years old. I shouldn't be holding out for some management position at an accounting firm.

There's no way in hell I'm working at McDonalds though. Well, here it goes...I can see myself flipping a pretty mean whopper....

/sigh

Unless there is a zit faced, over weight, klutzy, geek type girl who works there. Then they would have a lot in common.

The other bad thing about working at Burger King is that you don't want that big plastic king guy to have your home address.

I'd try to get a job at the Truman Sports Complex as a food vendor. I did that from 1982-88 (high school and college). You get paid commission, somewhere around 20% of your sales. They pretty much hire anyone. You start off low on the seniority list, so you don't get the pick of the best jobs (i.e. you might have to sell Cokes in the upper deck of a cold April game), but even on the worst nights, you make more through commission than the minimum wage. If you don't, you get minimum wage for that night. Generally, you'd work from about half-hour before game time until the 7th-inning stretch, about 3 hours a night.

It's a great job. You make lots of money; you earn more the harder you work; it's interesting, and you get to see a lot of the games.

The Royals season has 80 home games; the Chiefs have a few games in the Summer/Fall and, now that I think about it, I guess the Wiz probably has a lot of games also. Still, the schedules work out so that you can squeeze in a day job as well.
