I've always thought of FMJ as a great basic training movie, and a pedestrian war movie.
Of course, I put The Train near the top, even though it's a movie about guerilla civilians saving a trainload of art during WWII, not so much a 'war' movie.

Good point,

I suppose FMJ is a little less of a "war movie" when you think about it, when the best parts of the movie are about basic.

I suppose the best movie envolving most war to me would have to be Gettysburg.

And when I make that distinction, keep in mind I still think it's a great movie. And naturally the BEST movie about basic training ever. Just I think there are better war movies out there. Sometimes I even turn it off when they end up 'in theater.' It's like have two pieces of Cheesecake Factory cheesecake. The second course is not as blissful as the first.
