I'm a great cook, by why.....

Can't I make gravy?

I've always been a great cook, and in fact cook 75% of the meals for the family. You name it, and I can damn well cook it.
\But for some frickin reason I can't make gravy for Biscuits & gravy worth a crap

Anyone else have this problem or any suggestions?

Since Hardees has the best gravy I've ever had, and it comes straight from powder mix into boiling water, with sausage crumbled up and stirred in after it thickens, I see no reason to go to more effort than that just to say it was made from scratch.

You poor soul. If Hardees is the best gravy you've ever had, you've never had real gravy.

My grandma makes turkey gravy from scratch every Thanksgiving and X-mas. Mom makes sausage gravy and cajun gravy from scratch all the time. Both of them do a d@mn fine job.
But Hardees makes [made? haven't had it in a while] d@mn good gravy. It's a fact. It's popular. A lot of Hardees sell [sold?] more biscuits and gravy than they sold anything else. The whole family, mom and gammy included, include Hardees B&G in their vacation travel rituals.
I know good gravy, but I'm also convinced by my own tastebuds and it's nationwide popularity, that Hardees IS good gravy.
Oh, and the biscuits are [were?] made completely from scratch. The biscuit makers are a specialty act that comes in an hour before everyone else to get the process started.

Well, I'd describe it as bland, with the dominating flavor being flour, but I guess it all has to do with what you've been raised on. If you ever end up in Des Moines, look me up and I'll show you what you've been missing.

Not only is he a decent cook, he's great at dusting and mopping, he runs a mean vacuum and streak-free window washing too.

Edible, not as good as mom's but not to bad.
It took me a couple of time to get it right...

main thing is to cook it slow...the longer it takes the better it is...I've made it so many times I forgot to add that in (I basically heat it fast than let it simmer and stir for a while)...

~sorry bout that~

Like I said, my mom makes a cajun flour. Technically a roux adapted for breakfast. It's pretty spicy. Also, my cousin's husband makes a gravy [He's/They're from Louisiana, so I'd say it's cajun rooted, too] that he seasons with 80 some odd kinds of hot pepper. And that's fucking spicy.
Sure Hardee's is relatively bland, but they've really gotten down to a science the consistency, and a more savory component that compliments their sausage and buttermilk biscuits well.
Saying Hardees' gravy is not good because it's bland is like criticizing a well-made creme brulee for being too bland. It's not about intense flavors, it's about texture and subtlety.

Ummm, ok. Hardees gravy and a well made creme brulee? I think it's fair to say that we just have different opinions on biscuits and gravy. Didn't mean to come off offensive if I did.

I don't have this problem.
I simply don't cook.

But I do eat 75% of the meals cooked in my family of two.

Pray tell, what is cajun gravy? You said it is a roux adapted for breakfast.

Any chance you could be more specific? It sounds good. I do alot of cajun cooking and enjoy making nice dark roux.
