Is anyone else conflicted about training camp?

Every year, it's the same thing. I'll read the training camp reports, and the official ones are always very positive: offense is humming, defensive backs look good, Rich Scanlon is a beast, XXX from Tinybumpkin Community College could be the next great thing, etc.

I read all the good stuff, and there's always potential bad stuff imbedded in it. Whenever I read that the defense did well on a goal-line stand, I wonder if the offense has "lost it". Whenever I hear about Kilian completing 11 straight passes, I think that the cornerbacks must still be weak. In short, any news from training camp is a potential double-edged sword, and it leaves me feeling conflicted and confused.

Anyone else have this problem?

i pretty much take everything with salt until the real games start. It would be boring for everyone though if we didn't talk about who looks shitty and who looks good.

OK I am confused, what do you mean Phil?

We drafted Kawika 15th in the 2n round in 2003. Robinson was still defensive coordinator the 2003 season which was Kawika's rookie season.

I don't like the injury report. The vets don't need the crap they are going through.....well maybe one week.

Real game situations after OTA, 7-10 days of practice.
Two preseason games. (Three if it's your year at HOF game).

Add two more regular season games.
Coaches have had enough time to eval players.

The current last two PS games,
Coaches don't want anyone hurt that is a starter.

The NFL looked at the timing of injuries in camps over the last few years. The evidence was that the players reach some limit or wall when at about 7-10 days of constant practice injuries spike. Even with the attempts to factor this into camp this year you are still going to have players starting to relax their focus, due to fatique or distractions or saturation of repetitive acts. Then you see the increase of injuries. Since football is a violent physical game one can't avoid it altogether. I am wondering if the NFL's followup on this years camps will show different or improvement in this area.

The camp reports off the UWR web site are all positive, (except injuries)
They don't normally name names when someone gets burned.

I think a lot of the reports are a matter of judgement from the reporter writing the article like Saturday night they wrote:

Quarterback Todd Collins threw a beautiful pass to wide receiver Craphonso Thorpe during 7-on-7 drills tonight. Cornerback Eric Warfield provided textbook tight coverage.

I was sitting very close to this play. In Warfield's defense it was a perfect pass, but I know way thought it was text book coverage by Eric. Crap made separation from Warfield. Eric had no chance to defend this play.

After being there and seeing things with my own eyes and then reading afterwards what they wrote about what I saw I will take what I read off that sight with a grain of salt. I mean really, how qualified are these folks to write about football? I think they just schmooze things over at times.
