Thanks Marty,
Thats ok with me. Vermeil won't care, basketball is good for quickness, as he said.

It would be a mistake for the Chiefs to allow this. Basketball is the number one injury sport.

Brock,
I really don't think its nothing to worry about, IMO. CG besides, I heard he's not that good at hoops as he is football so he probably won't make it, he's undersized

Even if he does make it (as it says below) basketball helps with quickness, but then I thought about it...
a 6'4 power forward in the NBA? I don't think so.

Gonzo should understand that if he burns his candle at both ends it won't burn as long as it would otherwise. C'mon Gonzo, look at what you all ready are. A SuperStar TE! Play some offseason B-Ball but keep your perspective. Please!

Gonzo said about a month ago in an article that he feels he is good enough to play in the league, but he sees himself as at best a 3rd or 4th guy off the bench who can come in and play some minutes. If he's satisfied with that, whatever. He knows where his bread and butter is, but I don't fault anyone for persuing their dreams. He might as well try and find out once and for all if he is good enough to be in the NBA, if for nothing else so that he doesn't look back on it 10-15 years down he road and wonder. But I doubt he'll really seriously persue it to a point where it detracts from football, especially with his big payday coming up...

This is the last year of his contract, right?
He knows, you know and Peterson should know that they will have to make him the NFL's highest paid TE... averaging what, about $3.5M a year or more plus a $5-8M bonus. So, go ahead and pony up the money and set up a clause that limits his 'outside' activities.

Hell' never make an NBA roster. He doesn't have anywhere near the talent, and he doesn't have the drawing power to get signed just to fill seats.

I say let him scratch this itch to make him realize there is a HUGE difference between college ball and the NBA. Then he can settle down to become one of the greatest TEs in the NFL.
Randy Moss found out he wasn't all that with his recent foray and that wasn't even real NBA talent on the court this summer. TonyG is only 6'4" and does not have springs in his feet. ( Us white guys are elevation-challenged). He'd be fortunate to land a CBA slot but then Isiah Thomas screwed that league up so who knows where TonyG would go. No need to worry Chiefs fans....

I think Tony has ups. Those cross bars he dunks over are 10' tall and he does it with all that gear on.
Having said that, a 6'4" power forward who only weighs 245 pounds? He'll easily be the smallest power forward in the league. so he signs with a team and sits on the bench. He'll either get board or sit on the pine. Either way, I doubt he'll be exposed any more to injury than he already is.

donkhater,
If you'll notice, Tony takes a running start from 20-40 feet away before dunking that ball. And there is a big difference in the size of the basketball and a NFL football. But there is more to basketball than just dunking it (Shaq realized this after 5-6 years in the NBA) TonyG is a positional pine player with the talent levels currently seen in the NBA.

Like Cal Injun said, let him scratch this itch. He'll find out that he's not good enough(or should I say big enough) to play power forward in the NBA. Of course, you never know. He could play a small forward and excel at it. Either way, they can easily write a clause in his contract next year that limits his non-football activities (you beat me to the punch on this one Mile High). Let him get it out of his system now. Then again, we could end up with another Bo Jackson.
By the way Cal, Tony is Hispanic, not white.

I'm not saying that he'll make it, but he still is carrying a fair amount of gear on his back when he makes those leaps.
He'll soon realize he is an inferior player in the league and not too many teams will sign him for only half a season. I'm sure he accels in the summer league, but there are many playground legends who never make it in the pros. BTW Injun, Gonzalez is hispanic, not white.
